Hmmm...how about this:
Loser can not say ANYTHING critical, judgmental, or unfavorable about Iowa State and clown fan for an entire football season. No matter how laughably bad their football team is next season, no matter how bad the Hawkeyes truck them, loser can not pile on, mock, crack on, or otherwise issue any 'nyah-nyahs' on this entire Board. Same goes for horribly gauche and ignorant clown fan on Rivalry forum or any other forum on HN.com - loser must not engage in any manner other than friendly, respectful, and gracious.

Iowa is in the same boat as Indiana/Minny/Illinois - none of us has the talent to change coaches every time we get the whim to do so. But guys, Michigan is just as loaded with talent as they ever were. The bad on-field results is a pure coaching matter. They are essentially a turn-key operation for someone. If they get a 1/2 way competent staff brought in, they could easily be BCS bound very, very quickly.
No, this is not Steve Deace under an alias. Just stating the facts.

Totally (respectfully) disagree, numbers. Michigan IS loaded with talent...Big East-quality talent. Nothing more. They're small and relatively quick, but undisciplined (agree that this aspect is a coaching failure) and not particularly bright (low football IQ).
They're not a Big Ten-level group, and certainly not a historic Michigan-quality group. NOT a turn-key squad, imho. IF Harbaugh ends up in Ann Arbor next season, he'll be a frustrated cat. And he won't win more than 7 games.

In terms of overall talent, they are not in the top 5. Offensive talent, top 5, but they have to play perfect in order to win a game against a decent team. Crap, they had to score 67 just to beat Illinois...
Defensive talent they are lower than Purdue or Indiana overall. If Rich Rod is not back, but the 13 they have committed to them stay, the next coach will be in for some quality players on defense, but it takes time to see results. Robinson is an idiot, the scheme he runs just doesn't work and it will cost Rodriguez his job. Rich Rod's biggest mistake was not retaining Ron English, his next biggest mistake was getting rid of Scott Schafer after one season, then he sticks with Robinson...WAY TO GO.
If Rodriguez is back, I am not totally sold he is gone, but after today, it may have put the final nail in the coffin, Robinson and the whole staff should be let go and just start over. There are some quality players there, but they look completely lost and that is coaching.
Look at a team like Texas A&M playing in the Cotton Bowl, they had the over 100th rated defense four years running, they got their fourth coordinator in 5 years and it has paid off. It just takes the right guy when there are some decent players there, obviously, Robinson is not the right guy, when it didn't work at all in year one, he should have been let go and try again. Foolishness in thinking some of the holdovers from the Carr era like Obi Ezeh were good players cost them and the defense got better when they started to bench some of those players. Today, they had how many weeks to figure out the MSU offense that isn't good and put on that showing...emotions will get Rodriguez fired, the fanbase will probably lynch Brandon if he is back.

If Harbaugh can transform the moribund Stanford program and turn it into a big winner, it is hard to believe that he won't be able to do the same thing at Michigan. It might take him 4 or 5 years to do so, however; will the Michigan fans show patience? That is the big question; they are a very impatient, unrealistic bunch of fans. I really think the talent level at Michigan right now is at an all-time low. They have the worst talent on defense in the Big Ten by far.
Kirk didn't win big until his 4th season at Iowa.
It is hard to believe that Michigan will fire a coach after only 3 seasons, but it looks like that is exactly what will happen.

Harbaugh took over at the perfect time, the thing is, there was some talent there. The Pac-10 had no clear number two team behind USC as Oregon had the "coach-in-waiting" situation, look what has happened at Oregon and even FSU once that situation was no longer. I give him credit for being able to recruit a QB like Luck, if he wasn't able to do that, Harbaugh would be like any other bad Stanford coach. The Michigan fans just don't like Rodriguez for whatever reason, they bitched about the No. 1 jersey and various other things because he wasn't a "Michigan Man" and that is simply unfair, but the arrogance that some of the fans have has really come to light. They won a split National Championship in 1996 and have not sniffed one since, so having a "Michigan Man" head coach wasn't really working out that great. Bill Martin went outside the box and brought in Rodriguez to transform the program, he has the offense turned around, but the defense will do him in and nobody would care about their special teams if their defense wasn't so bad. If they fire Rodriguez, which is likely after today's showing, all they are doing is setting back the program another three years. One thing I don't get is why the expectations are so high every year, how long was it between National Championships, so the philosophy that was in place wasn't all that successful. How many 10-win seasons have they had since the last National Championship? The fans should have just let the man coach, but he screwed up when he picked the wrong defensive coordinator and it will most likely cost him his job, if not this year, next year. One thing the fans should understand is that the only teams they lost to were bowl teams and they actually beat a bowl team this year something they didn't do in the first two seasons. When you hire a coach to transform the program, especially a transformation like this one, it takes a lot longer. The other problem was he put his most athletic guys on offense, instead of throwing a couple to the defense. Rodriguez also kicked some guys off the team after making one mistake, not three or four and of the five he kicked off two were starters and the other were in their two deep, all secondary players.

They won a lot when there were a minimal amounts of college football teams. Most of their National Championships came before the Depression. Agree the NCAA sanctions haven't helped his cause, but they have been clean since and when you take a look at it, they didn't file paperwork and did the extra practice time really pay off?

I think Michigan is a losing proposition for Harbaugh. No way he'd ever meet the stratospheric expectations.
I think his eyes are set on the NFL.
