Adam Rittenberg calls watching Iowa's offense "painful"... and not in a good way.

Rittenberg's Big Ten blog had the following to say: "Iowa (4-4, 2-2) had its chances after the bad snap, but the Hawkeyes simply don't have the offensive firepower, imagination or execution to erase big deficits. Watching Iowa try to run the two-minute drill was painful, as the Hawkeyes couldn't attack downfield against a Northwestern defense missing two of its three best cornerbacks. First-year coordinator Greg Davis has had a very rough go this fall."

That is "painful" to read, but Oh so true.
 
It's hard to watch a lot of these awesome offenses in college football do their thing and then watch whatever it is that we do.
 
This is more than just one of those games or one of those years......

Things seem to be seriously unraveling.....
 
I'm not giving up on the season yet. I'll continue to cheer for the Hawkeyes but I'll make sure I don't expect to much before hand. I've been burned to many times the past two years. I hope we can turn things around next year with a new OC, quarterback and hopefully a new attitude from the coaches and having it spread down to the team. Vandenburg seems to be playing scared this season. I wonder if he has been coached to do anything but make a mistake.
 
Coaching doesn't leave passes 5 yards short - repeatedly - or 6 feet over receivers' heads - repeatedly. Nor do coaches cause a 5th-year senior to become oblivious to the play clock - repeatedly.

I am not saying the coaches are doing a great job, but at this stage of his career JVB fully owns his inept performances.
 
The Solid Verbal podcast was a term: "Tire Fire Offense"

If you look up Tire Fire Offense, you will see Iowa.

As for me, I will sit back and marvel at the unending flames and thick smoke of the last games of this season. Ain't no putting out a tire fire.
 
Ex-NFLer and ESPN game commentator, Joey Galloway, wasn't too impressed throughout the game with our Hawks either.

His classic line was that he doesn't believe he has ever seen a delay of game penalty while running the hurry up offense. That line best defines this season in my mind......a classic.

Dangit son! You know what we do. Why, we um, er, hike the ball and well, stuff.
Five buckeye stickers will be removed from my dang helmet fer not bein' able to figure out the offense.
 
The only time I can tolerate a 3 yard out route is on 3rd and 2. Unfortunately that's usually when Greggie D dials up and incomplete pass down field.

Those 3 yard out routes we see on 3rd and long are going to make me assault my television one of these days.

How dare you speak the absolute truth and actually hold a player accountable for their performance. You should be banned immediately.
