Not just that but this is who many Indiana fans wanted.

In two weeks my youngest son will have his first child. My first grandchild out of three that will carry my last name. We know it’s a boy. He let us know a couple of months ago they have chosen the name Benjamin.

Just a coincidence? Hell no, God is a Hawkeye!!! Let’s see if Ben and Beth are listening to God. If SHE is not listening and passes on Ben, then she can move on to Ames.

As the days pass, there are no updates on the coaching search. Obviously Goetz is in discussions or wanting to talk with coaches in the Sweet 16, like McCollum.

His profile grows significantly nationally with Drake this year's tourney darling.

However, watching a team from Iowa make a run wakens the ghosts of Hawkeye past. Donors realize what's possible and how much they long for some Hawkeye fun in March with the men's team. They also start to panic that McCollum will jump to one of the many suitors now rumored after him.

Goetz leverages the excitement of Drake's run and panic of losing McCollum to rally the donors to kick in enough to make a nice offer both in salary and payroll. Not the best of the offers he receives, but close enough. McCollum recognizes the unique opportunity at hand and accepts.

So what are the best Job openings right now? Did a quick google search to come up with the following list:

Villanova
Virginia
West Virginia
Minnesota

It is these 4 schools that Iowa has to compete with to land this year’s hot mid-major coach(McCollum). FWIW, it was a quick search, so I might have missed a school or two. Also, wouldn’t be shocked if the Texas job came open in the next 3 or 4 days.
