ACC and Big East in the CBI

One of the arguments the pro-participation-ribbon crowd has used to support their claim that Iowa should [strike]accept a bid[/strike] buy their way into the CBI tournament is the fact that the ACC and Big East have both had teams in the CBI. If the CBI is good enough for those powerhouse conferences, it should be good enough for the Big Ten!! I decided to look at the storied history of the CBI and report on the many appearances by those two conferences. Here's the list:

ACC appearances:
2008: Virginia 17–15 (5–11 ACC)

Big East appearances:
2009: St John's 16–17 (6–12 Big East)

By the way, my post didn't somehow get cut off. That's the complete list. One appearance from each of those conferences, and none since 2009.

Yes, as I have said in other threads the prestige of this tournament has gone down a lot in recent years. And it started as a low
prestige tournament in the first place.

CBI/CIT should only take mid-major teams. If one of the big boys can't make it to the NCAA or NIT than tough shi t.

The PAC 12 Will likely only get one tournament team this year. I'm sure they can get multiple CBI bids though. Their programs need the extra practice!!

Your point?

Again, your point?

The dopes weren't talking about those conferences.

oh name calling eh?

Funny how you only come to the forum to spew your negative crap. You never support anything whether it is conference expansion or playing in a post season tournament. You are one of the worst posters on here, you do not add anything to the forums only to disagree in several threads saying the same crap over and over. We get it, you do not want to see Iowa play in the CBI, now go back to playing your 8 track tapes.

Barta is willing to put in an "aggressive bid" (aka we will pay/guaranty more than others) for the NIT, but he will not pay nothing for the CBI?

Barta says McCaffery & Iowa players do not want to go to the CBI. Yet Iowa's top two players are on record of wanting to go? And McCaffery says zero, zilch about turning down the CBI?

Barta's public relations is horrendous, this is just another example... Certainly one of the worst in the B1G or the BCS.

Why would he? It's a joke of a tournament that the Big Ten doesn't participate in.

You can argue the EXACT same thing about the Not Invited Tournament being a joke.

The point is we want to play. The players want to play. There is NO reason to not play. So why not play...?

As for Delaney, if he doesn't want our players in the CBI, he can't suck it.

We? You aren't on the team or staff. What you think should have zero impact on what happens here.

Also, if the PAC 12 gets three that will be a travesty. They aren't even MVC level this season but will get it due to the name of the conference.

What isn't a joke anymore about post season play in today's world. Major League Baseball just announced another team to the wild card format.

Twill you are a tool and we all know it.

Unfortunately this is one of those seasons that comes along every dozen years or so when it's huge plus for Iowa BB to be playing in one of the "lesser", "mid-major" post season tournaments.

Iowa, in fact, won more games than they lost (unlike the current qualification for an FBS bowl bid) have beaten 3 top 20 teams and have a couple of seniors and a bunch of youngsters that play their butts off, never give up , keep improving and are dying for some post season play outside of the Big Ten.

The coaches are on board and any fan of Matt Gatens is too.

Unfortunately the BTN/Fox/Bary Garta tools along with the fore mentioned tool aren't.

It is the way it is... THE 2012 BUSINESS of Iowa BB is and some of the so-called "fans" who post on Hawkeye Nation.

Comparing a third-rate college basketball tournament with adding a team to the playoffs in the NL and AL is ridiculous.

The CBI would be if MLB had its playoffs, took 4 other teams and put them into another bracket, THEN took four other teams. It's a joke.
