Absurdity of Preseason Rankings

It's just ridiculous how preseason rankings affect how some teams remain in the polls and others don't. In fact the bias is getting rather absurd...

Why do guys punish Nebraska so much for their butt whipping...but still give ridiculous love to Arkansas? What have Auburn, Florida and South Carolina done that make them so worthy to remain as one loss top 15 teams?

These rankings are horrid. Try this on for size...

Team A starts the season in the top 25..gets blown out at home by a score of 27-11...but after week five is 4-1 and unranked.

Team B starts the season in the top 25...gets blown out at home (by the same team as Team A) by a score of 38-10...but after week five (in which their loss came) is 4-1 and ranked in the top 15-20.

Yeah that makes sense...

And why is this on the Recruiting board?

Because team A barely beat Temple and Indiana. ;)

I don't have a problem seeing a couple of 2-2 teams ranks as both of them have lost close games to tough opponents. In the FCS poll there is a 2-3 team ranked.

The preseason polls will never go away. But we all know they are pretty much for entertainment value anyway. It is neat to see where your favorite team is ranked in the preseason. It gives us all something to talk about.
