AAU team/club

I know this is mainly a college site but i have been thinking a lot lately about why iowa is not towards the top of the leader board when it comes to team ranks/individuals. are our wrestling clubs getting smaller or are kids just not disciplined enough anymore.

where im getting at is i know we have a few bigger wrestling clubs in the state and have been contemplating getting a BIG club together with a nice facility 2-3 full mats and a simple weight room. these clubs exist in other states and iowa really doesn't have that which is shocking with the amount of talent we have for coaches.

does anybody know anybody who would be interested in getting something started with me. i have money for the investment and also the people to put up the building.

pin2win, I have often thought about doing the same. I have been in other independent clubs/sites across the country, including Overtime in Wisconsin. There are some amazing clubs throughout the US and you are right that is an area we lack in this state. Location is huge for a site like this because you need a large base of kids and also coaches are key because of the draw. If you ever want to discuss something like this just let me know and I would be glad to offer any suggestions and I could also put you in touch with some very influencial people in the sport that could help you out.

location is the biggest because you have to draw the small and big schools.

i was thinking of grimes or ankeny...ames would be great but don't want to steer kids to isu

i know takedown is a big club but all he does is go from school to school on a nightly basis so its not really considered a team in my eyes. i want a close nit team that can travel all over and who the nation what iowa wrestling is all about

That sounds like a great idea and something that I have considered at times myself. I would love to be involved in something like this but won't be much help to you anymore pin2win since I'm moving from Ankeny to the Iowa City area in 2 days!
