Aaron Whites stuns #1

I can't wait to get him on campus. I think he will be a key piece of the puzzle next year.

I'm getting more and more excited about White. He might be finalist for MR. Basketball of Ohio. He seems to be getting better and better.

A player I compare him to is Tim Abromitas at ND, however, I think Aaron can contribute much earlier in his career.

Be has been stepping up the way you expect a legit B10 player to do in his senior year. One thing I didn't like about Lick was that he brought in some recruits that didn't exert their will in high school or JC. It was almost like he thought he knew something nobody else knew. He didn't.

The comparison I hear more than any other is Hayworth. He isn't really a power player. More of a really long three. Which actually should work out well with Basabe. Larry Johnson needed his Stacy Augman, Barkley always worked better with a taller 3. Helps to keep teams from playing over the top, but doesn't clog the line up for the shorter 4.

No idea who Abromitas is...any chance White's the next Robbie Hummel? With better ligaments?

Abromaitis, wrong spelling first time. 6-8 G/F that has good ball handling ability. His emergence this season is a big reason why ND is ranked as high as they are.
A lot of people compare him to Hayward, but Aaron has a much larger frame and can add pounds and become more of the inside/outside threat.

Do you mean Hayward? The Butler player, CAARHawk?

Yep, you will notice weird IPhone typos in my posts. I need to turn that feature off. Hayward is the guy I am hearing people compare White with. And I have heard this comparison from a number of different sources. I am not sure if it was the growth spurt, or the ability to handle the ball well with size, or fluidity, or what? I just keep hearing that comparison.

And if that comparison turns out being even remotely close to accurate, we're going to be a very happy bunch indeed!

I like what I hear about White, and even Fran is jumping into the hype a bit with his comments in today's press citizen. But, I am going to remain cautious on projecting Aaron White to be an immediate big contributor. I think he still looks thin,no shock for a guy who still seems to growing. But,the Big Ten is no place for frail frosh, and so I will hold off on any expectations until I see him in a uniform next November. I think we need frontline help this spring that is more mature and ready to battle in the paint. Aaron being ready for that would be a surprising bonus.

I don't think Aaron will be battling in the paint his freshman year. I expect him to be more of a rangy 3. Let Mel do the offensive work down there and then find a tough defensively minded big that will be able to clean the glass and get a lot of put back points.
