Aaron White's Size

The statistical probability of this thread living this long with no Greg Brunner reference is virtually nil.

If you think Basabe's slump was caused by extra weight I've got a bridge to sell you.

I don't know, I guess you know more than Basabe himself. He said he feels better after getting down to 223--maybe between his ears, but it's what he (Basabe) said. Montee Ball said he felt quicker after dropping 15-20 pounds, but I guess he is a liar too.

i would be surprised if mels weight is significantly different than it was a month ago. if so, its because he was lazy over the summer.

i love fran but you cant take many his statements at face value.

How did losing weight get Mel's head in the game? That is what I saw him having a problem with early in the season.

McCaffrey said they wanted Basabe to bulk up in order to be more physical. I assume this was because the two-headed monster of BromArch was counted on for 0. So they add weight to Basabe, try to make him more of a banger and he comes out the first few games and struggles, getting very few touches and early fouls.

Basabe gets down on himself (note interview last night where he blamed himself for early losses) and the weight becomes the "issue". Basbe loses weight, McCaffrey implores guys to feed the post / stop jacking up early 3's, Basabe's confidence rises and he is back to his old form or close to it.

Exactly.Fran can lay down the coach-speak with the best of them.

I think the weight thing was Fran's way of deflecting some criticism away from Basabe for his sluggish play early on.

Yeah ok. It's just coincidence that Basabe starts playing better as he loses weight. Gotchya.

Alittle extra, completely unnoticeable to the naked eye, weight makes you not try and play with no intensity?

If thats not an excuse than I never heard one.

the weight was a problem
why is that so hard to get thru to your minute brain cells
extra weight is not a end all cure to getting stronger
too many on here are of the brain dead philosphy related to Foot Ball that every kid needs to gain 40-70 lbs to be effective
i have already stated Zettel at 6'11 220 lbs seem to being just fine at Indiana
Leornard at Illinois is 7'1 245 is apearing to be coming around
but i didn't see him pack a bunch of weight on from last year 225 from his HS year

I maybe reading this wrong but 20 lbs isnt a bunch of weight???

that is my point everybody clamors for massive weight gains to be effective
Woodbury is 7'1 and 245 lbs as a senior in HS and yet people want him to gain more or the poor skinny kid will be destroyed by the massive size of the BT players
White has gone from 210 in HS to 225 in his freshmen year
he to is not skinney it is his conditioning that is slowing him dow in my opinion he put the weight on to fast and it was hurting his early season progress
Basabe is 6'7 and the weight affected both his ability and in the end affected his confidence

one more point to the one for something for sale you are the typical couch potato
the coaches are lying
the players are lying it a total conspiracy to keep fans in the dark
its the typical "I kow everything"

WTF? Have another drink.

functional wt is fine. the wt that mel added seemed to make him sluggish. if aaron can add muscle and strength to help him defend and rebound great if he plays better lighter than stay there.

being a physical presence down low is more about attitude than sheer size. but adding strength usually helps. a lot of times that is what tall lanky players lack. i didnt think basabe needed wt because he was pretty physical already. but he did need to get stronger. white needs the same. i think meyer will need wt and strength. and woodbury is going to need to get stronger.

big jump from 18 yr old hs post to banging down low with 20 yr old men.

I love me some Aaron White but he really needs to work on his conditioning. After a few times up and down the court ole Aaron is huffing and puffing. lol

When fresh I love his game, when fumed he starts to look a little slow on D. Not sure what his 3 point percentage is but seems like he has at least one a game that goes half way down then back out.

Last game he was up in the passing lanes quite a bit. Not sure this should be his thing as he lacks the quickness to recover. Yes I know he did pick one off for a dunk last game. That was pretty sweet.
