A UVA primer from a UVA fan

Crap I guess I've been living in a cave. When did UNC and VA join the B1G?
B1G will offer UVA and SEC will pilfer a couple of others from the ACC giving ND one last chance to take the B1G on-ramp.

mark it.

It’s been too long since I’ve been in Charlottesville. I hope to take my kids next year. As for the Terps, I was once part of a UVA pep band that was banned for a decade from Maryland’s football stadium – the governor of Maryland had been indicted (back in the 1970s) so the band during the halftime show introduced its guest conductor, the governor – a pep band member in a striped prison uniform with a ball and chain.

@superfan12
Your fellow poster @hawkinaclownhouse is exactly right – I was using Canadian spellings.

My accent: My dad’s family was from the Midwest (Michigan and Minnesota) and somehow I missed a heavy New Yorker accent. Most Canadians can tell I am American but can’t place precisely where. It did take me awhile to lose the Y’all and replace it with “You guyz”.

Joining the Big Ten: That’s a sore topic for a lot of UVA fans, not because they don’t respect the Big 10 (they do) but because many miss the traditional ACC when there were 8 teams. I have no insights on what will happen. The ACC next year looks like a basketball powerhouse next year with Louisville, Syracuse and Pittsburgh joining, but we all know the biggest bucks are in football. (on that front, Notre Dame are on the way). Big 10 basketball this year has been excellent.

@PalmettoHawkFan
Sometimes UVA’s basketball program seems too much like Biff Loman. We haven’t been a national force since the mid-1990s. That said, I like what Tony Bennett has done in his time here. The team seems stacked for next year.

@all Iowa Hawkeye fans
Thanks for all the kind words. You are classy and knowledgeable fans and a worthy opponent in the NIT. I hope that whoever wins Wednesday goes on to win the tournament.

This game is going to be about as intense a match up as you can find in the NIT quarters.

Too bad it's not at Carver where the atmosphere would match.

Why the need for the hate bro, just let the guy do his thing.

Mad props for all the info UVA, thanks again.

Where do you see hate? Every team has highlight vids. That tells me nothing and I'm not interested. You have a liberal view of the word hate.

Agreed. This is a game worthy of the NIT Finals. Back in the day (before the NCAA took over) we might have seen this match-up in NYC as the NIT used to determine each rounds match-up after all the games were played.

Oh well .. .. Here's to a good intense game that comes out on the right side of the ledger for Iowa.

GO HAWKS!!!

Well done UVA fan. To come into enemy territory w out being called a troll repeatedly is no easy feet. I salute you. Good luck, see you on the court. Go hawks
