One thing that may not have been considered in this selection process is the Pac 12's say in all of this. Afterall, college football seems to be all about perception and how would the Pac 12 look having lost the Rose Bowl to a 3rd Place B1G team? I think having Iowa there with the title of "B1G West Division Champions" carries a lot more weight than anticipated (for some).

Yes, and the benefit of circumstance had a lot to do with that. No one wants to play Ohio St. right now but I wish we could. It may well end up in a loss but a good Iowa team is a tough out also. If you want to be one of the best you have to play the best. The next step, which Iowa has honestly never taken, is to schedule a tougher pre-conference lineup. Notre Dame, Stanford, Oregon, Clemson, Alabama...a good Iowa team can play with these teams so there's nothing to lose. An early loss to a quality team is forgivable, even two in some cases as we've seen in the case of Stanford this year.

True that above. And Buckeye Fans are ****** they got passed over for Iowa. You have to have some delight in that.
