A lot of people are blaming the coaches....

And they do deserve some play...but Vandenberg is incredibly disappointing to me....a 5th year senior reads the blitz and knows that KMM is going to be WIDE OPEN for a touchdown...but he just doesn't get it.

Not to mention the fact that when our receivers do get a chance to catch the ball they have to make spectacular diving catches...Allowing for no yards after catch.

It's just pathetic.

Not to mention the guys RUNNING AWAY from the ball on the onside kick....someone just fall on the dang thing!!

I have to get emotionally removed from Hawkeye sports....this game has just dampened my weekend...I have sat around stewing about it for hours...

I will do no defending of Vandy, but when Freak can sit in the south endzone and only half pay attention while she is rubbing more sunscreen on her husband's head, and still know exactly what is coming and the coaches don't seem to get it, then something is seriously wrong.

Vandenberg is quickly erasing what numbers he put up last year. He is going to go down as one of the most disappointing QB's in Iowa history.
If losing to CMU at home doesn't do it what will get Rudock into the game to get experience for next year?

A new coach, but if we had a different coach maybe Iowa QBs would get better as they get older.

Numbers mean absolutely nothing. However good he looked on paper last year, he was still only mediocre in reality.

Blame the coaches! R u kidding me? The coaches are 100% to blame, especially ferentz. How can a team not have a 2 minute offense? It was only invented about 35 years ago! Can you name me another team who has had at least 3 onside kicks recovered against them in the last 3 years? No you can't because that is junior high 101! Why are we outmanned on every onside kick? The other team ALWAYS has 1 or 2 more guys on the side of the onside kick. Is it a shock that the other team is onside kicking? No, our staff is incompetent and it starts with the head coach! How many times have you seen in the last 5 years where a timeout is called and then we can't get off a play? We need a housecleaning and a modern offense and defense. Remember when Northwestern wanted to be like Iowa? Well, now I want Iowa to be more like Northwestern! That is just plain sad but it's closer to the truth than you would like to think:mad:

So the coaches are to blame for all the personal fouls that kept bailing out CMU? Coaches are to blame for dropped passes? Coaches are to blame for Vandy not making correct reads? The coaches can only do so much, the players have to execute. It's on everyone, not just the coaches. Open you eyes if you don't believe so.

WOW

seriously, tehb, you are in the rarest of rare forms today
heartfelt applause

We need a dual threat QB even though we play a pro style offense. We need another Brad Banks.
We've recurited those guys - AND KF won't let them be dual threats. He will make them a pocket passer like he has every QB since Banks

who recruits these kids? who coaches these kids? I do agree that the coaches only can do so much and with 1 big play each game we are 4-0; though still poor. It's a broken record that plays year after year. The players change but the COACH stays the same. Same thing, different year. If you are saying our coaches are maybe not the best judges of talent, that may be true. I tend to error on the kids' sides however. Unfortuneately, i think we can all see that the Big Ten has been passed by and it is sad to see. We seem to be a VHS in an Ipod world!
