A future Iowa Bowl in State?

I did some additional research.

World Stadiums - Stadiums in the United States :: Iowa

The highest capacities stadiums in Iowa go in order, Kinnick, Jack Trice, Knoxville Raceway, Drake Stadium, Uni Dome, Carver Hawkeye.

Well I would like to have it at Kinnick it sounds homerish to want it there, plus it's outside, as is Jack Trice and Drake. Can't have it at a raceway. That leaves the Uni Dome next on the list with 16,324. So if we want an in state bowl that's as high as it goes. I saw some high school games there it seems like a decent enough place. I'm sure Cedar Falls would love the bowl travelers money.

Yeah sorry but no one would want to travel to Cedar Falls in late December just to be part of a football game crowd of 16 thousand people. There's a reason most of the best and biggest bowls are in Florida or California/Arizona.

Maybe they could expand the seating to 20k plus. Detroit has a bowl game, I would take Cedar Falls ahead if Detroit.

I think it is about time for: Teh Hawkeyenation L' Enema II

Trolling it getting outa hand again.

The UNI Dome could work, they used to host the famous RC Cola Bowl.

I had forgotten about that. That wad a junior college event however. The more I think about it I think modifications would have to be made to increase the seating capacity at the uni dome. I am not sure how many people are trolling me but they do have a valid point with the capacity that we will have to work on.

Let's see if we can think of better venues for another bowl game on the smallish size wise:

At SMU near Dallas
At TCU near Dallas
At Clemson or South Carolinas stadium
Miss Gulf port area
Tucson at Ariz stadium
There might already be on at Candlestick

Is there a bowl in Houston

Any other places?

A city or university might like to make a few bucks hosting a game

I would settle for Minneapolis if nothing in state works out. However it would still be nice to have our own bowl.

I looked back at past Iowa's bowl game. 9 times they have played teams in their home state. 14 times the opponent was closer to the bowl. Only 3 times was Iowa closer. So I was thinking why can't there be a bowl in the state of Iowa? There are a few potential sponsors, John Deere, Hy Vee, Mediacom, Case IH would all be possibilities. A good location might be the Uni Dome. This would put a bowl in Iowa! The last thing that would need would be a Big. 10 tie in. With the expansion a spot might be available. What do you all think?

Think of the possiblities.....

Now it's "The Graphic Edge Bowl."

Could a major college game happen? Why not. For all the "weather sucks" posters, there is the Pinstripe Bowl — which features snow nearly every playing. Not to mention Boise, ID. and Annapolis, MD. are not real high on any winter vacation list.

The real question is if there is room in the market — if there are enough or too many games already.

What I'd like to see is Iowa and Iowa State move to a once every 3 years match up. Then, if in years where both teams do not make a bowl and did not play in the regular season, they play in the Hy-Vee Corn Bowl and the home field rotates every time this bowl situation presents itself.

This bowl game would probably present itself once ever decade. It would be a Friday night bowl game, and it would always be the Friday before the Iowa State vs. Iowa basketball game which is on a Saturday.
