A Computer Simulated the 2012 CFB Season 50,000 times

If you want to win some money, bet the opposite of the prediction machine lock of the week. It was wrong all year for nfl last year

Do the oddsmakers usually agree with the computer?

I will guess right now that Iowa will be favored in all 7 home games, along with the NIU game. They probably will be favored at IU. Now, maybe they lose to Purdue, or PSU, but on paper, Iowa should win 8,minimum,barring key injury.

Is the over under in Vegas at 7.5? I would take the over.
I would think Nebraska would be the only home game Iowa would not be favored in.

Good thing real football is played on the gridiron as opposed to Madden '12 etc.... meaningless video games.

I'm assuming this was a Marte Carlo simulation, but these are very sensitive to the inputs and the assumed probabilities of individual occurances, which mathmatically arrives at a conclusion (I've done a few). It is highly contingent on the inputs, which is subjective. For some, this equates to "garbage in, garbage out."

As some previous poster pointed out (sorry to not give you proper credit), there are far more variables to consider (turnovers?), and that's why we play the game.

Good evening Dr. Falken. Would you like to play 650,000 games?
