Dez Wells sure looked upset when he fouled out, but I'm sure you're right, he probably didn't care.
That guy looked like he would have cried if he just lost at UNO...

well its helped the team for sure... but like if it was the actual final four the other team would be in tears.
Maryland players had a look on their face that was 25% irritated and 75% could give a f***
It's helped for sure but it's still luke warmish.
Really doesn't bother me its just I've always been an even keel type person.
This NIT has been good for the team - but it's still the NIT and the intensity really doesn't come anywhere close to an NCAA game.
It's not even as intense as a big ten game.
C'mon now
Well that's racist.
I have definitely enjoyed the NIT run, cheering and celebrating every victory, but lets be honest we are only playing for what...69th place? Yes, it has been good for the team to grow...but so would NCAA experience and I'm not willing to concede that we would have been done after the first weekend.
funny that I never thought of it that way - think you might be the racist one boss.
There's even keel and there's not caring. You clearly don't care...which is fine. You being "even keel" as you call it isn't going to ruin it for those of us actually cheering for the Hawks. Don't tell me you're cheering for the Hawks because if you were you would enjoy watching them win.

Explain what you meant then?
I did enjoy it and I did care - it's just I'm never going to pretend its better then the NCAA in any way.
Is it helping Woodbury? yes a lot - Has Marble got some confidence... well yes.
There is a lot going well and its positive - but I just don't understand this need to try to comfort myself by pretending that some how it makes not getting into the big dance "all better."
I feel sorry for your life.[/QUOTE
If that makes you feel better go for it (see above quote you copied)
This just isn't true at all. Young talented teams that have made deep NIT runs have often done the same in the NCAA the following season. This is a young Iowa team and this means something.
Really funny (strange) the two teams I remember most with respect to NIT play and growth both have Alford involved.
1984-1985 UCLA and Indiana. Alford was a soph, as was Reggie Miller. UCLA beat Indiana in the title game.
The next year Indiana lost In round one of the NCAAs. UCLA graduated a bunch of seniors and lost round one in in the NIT.
In 1986-1987. UCLA won the PAC Ten, but got beat by Wyoming in the field of 32. Indiana won the NCAAs.
That 84-85 NIT has always stuck in my head as a predictor of future success.
However, when I look at the rosters and stats, it was really just Alford and Miller as key contributors in 1984-1985 and 86-87. But more importantly, the year after the NIT was meh.
In fact, the 1985-86 Indiana season is the one documented in "Season on the Brink."
Funny how the mind plays tricks on you.
Um, you did you not read down to the last sentence.Yeah, because something that happened 28 years ago has all kinds of relevance now....
