80's Hawkeyes

Last night I sat down and watched the 87 game at Arizona and a good bit of the 91 game against Hawaii (opening day).

David Hudson (80's) and Lew Montgomery (90s) were fun to watch. They reminded me of Sarget.

Hartlieb relieved Poholsky at Arizona. Big difference. Poholsky wasn't very accurate and didn't see the field the way Hartlieb did. Hartlieb was also a pretty decent runner. Then the coaches held QBs accountable for their play. Other guys would get a shot. Arizona had a defender named Ed Hinkle. The game at AZ included Quinn Early who went on to have a nice pro career (didn't get too many targets), Travis Watkins. McGuire was on the roster too as the #3 QB. Iowa had a pretty high profile program then. Attracting a qb like McGuire is unheard of now.

In the game against Hawaii Danon Hughes had a huge game. some awesome runs by Lew. It was a blow out
