#6 Seed Stuck In A #11 Seeds Body?

Wishful thinking, maybe. Unrealistic, not really. If they can somehow get their heads on straight and play like they did the 1st 3/4 of the year when they defended better, who knows. Will they have to catch lightening in a bottle & get some breaks, yes. But, we all know what this team is capable of and they may have the depth to compete in a grueling tournament to make a run. All I'm saying is that this team was poised to place 2nd or 3rd in the BIG prior to the slide & could have played themselves into a 4-6 seed in the NCAA prior to the slide. It's not inconceivable to think this team could be a 6 seed, it's just that they played so schizophrenic that who knows what to expect.

The key is if they can have the consistency when shooting to make a long run. I worry about their consistency. This fresh start out of conference may just be what they need.

My overall point is that I think they have the style of play, depth and ability to play like a lower seed. The ingredients are there, they just have to seize the moment. They have played close in all but two losses this year so have a good body of work over the year. I don't think this is your typical #11 seed team.

Am I being a homer & drinking the Kool-Aid? Possibly! Maybe I'm a glass half full kind of guy. The pieces are in place. They have to seize the moment and catch lightening in a bottle. It's possible that they can.

If Iowa was to return to form, the Midwest bracket may be as stacked as any bracket EVER. (Relative to the remainder of the field, not compared to the actual good basketball teams of the 1980s.)

Well, then it's time to get after it then...

This bracket is an absolute nightmare. IMO it would be fantastic to see the team that showed up the first 3/4 of the season, because IF (big IF) this team returns to form and starts playing their best ball of the season we could see some amazing games. No question that whoever gets out of the midwest they're going to come out battle tested and playing their best ball of the season. It's the only way to survive this region.

Hopefully Bilas removed his jinx the other night when he dumped on the Fighting Herkys.

Lets get after it then. Now is not the time for a boring NW loss. We aint playing nerds tonight, probably just the opposite.

This was a 2/3 seed level team after we pummeled Michigan. I'd still be nervous to play us as a top team because that might just mean we've regained form.

If you're going to play the "we could have been a higher seed" card, you should say 2 or 3 seed not 6. Before the Wisconsin game we were in position to get a 6 seed with an average finish. If we would have finished strong like it looked like we would, we could have gotten a 2 or 3. Instead we tanked and got a chance to play for an 11 seed.

I hope I'm wrong, but I've seen the ****** on a team that has the talent to win close games, but struggled down the stretch of the season. With the McCaffery family situation, I'm assuming we come out on fire and build a lead. Tennessee makes a charge in the second half and we are back where we have been so many times...in a close game. History tells me this doesn't end well.

At some point, somebody needs to hit the big shot when the big moment arrives. In our losses, there were so many opportunities to put a dagger in a team and we dropped the knife and it stuck in our foot. Someone needs to bury the damn thing in the other teams heart.

I was going to go down that far, around a 3, but thought people would think I was off my rocker. Yes, at one point this year, they were in position to challenge for a 3 seed. Mich St is currently 4, so I thought around 6 was a realistic comparison.

I like playing the play in game...it will give Iowa a chance to snap out of their funk. It could be an advantage to get a game under their belts to play against UMass if they do win.

TN = UMass, both decent teams, can be beat for sure. If we beat one, we may as well beat both.

Pretty much the same level of some of the teams we beat in the NIT last year with a similar group. We got this.

As we get closer, the excitement is building I have to admit. Get your heads on straight and play for the name on the front of the jersey, not the back or the @ twitter.com ect....
