5-Star Recruit

Ben isn't messing around. He's going big game hunting. Hope he can have better luck then Fran did. PG was always his white unicorn that he could never quite land/develop. College ball is a guards game and if you have the best PG and backcourt overall that can take you a long ways.

Would make sense that PG's might want to play for Ben. I shit you not, watch Iowa be great Defensively, have great PG's and then have NO fucking post play and not be able to score now. As a miserable Iowa hoops fan I almost expect it. We all wanted D and guards, now we'll get it and we'll be like "Does McCallum even teach offense?"

Wake up on the wrong side this morning?

Naw I'm optimistic it won't be a yin/yang thing. He does seem to be about playing smaller ball with versatile interchangeable athletes playing the 2-5 spots. But if this Jirak kid develops into something like a poor mans Garza that'd be quite the deal. I've heard nothing but great things about the kid so far.

I think Bens O is largely predicated upon ball movement. He wants to force a lot of switches and mismatches and then exploiting those late in the shot clock. So even though we probably won't be scoring in the 90s much I do think they'll be more efficient and a tough team to guard. Cause even if the O bogs down at least this yr they have Stirtz who's the ultimate bailout for late shot clock situations. 1v1 he can get himself a good look on anyone it seems like

WITHOUT DOING THE HOMEWORK…I would assume that all 15 seasons of Fran, that they were top 30 in offensive efficiency(points per possession). Now you can see BM teams in that 40-80 range, from an offensive efficiency standpoint, able to grind teams out. Fran was never able to crack the code on that.

I am excited about the BM era. I was skeptical at first…I’m all in now.

Agree about the excitement. It's the same thing we said for years about Frans methodology. If the offense falls off a little bit and the defense improves a bit I think we're in a good position. Under Fran the offense had to be in the top 30 because they simply couldn't get it done on the offensive end. I think if the defense plays the way he wants them to, we'll be just fine if our offensive production drops off a bit, because I have a feeling we'll be considerably more capable defending and rebounding.
