4 & inches

Looks like Kirk should have went for it. Science proves it. The article is pretty good and talks about being aggressive. Like with the field goals from the 20. you got 2 fourth and inches you go for it and only get 1 and score than you got 7 pts compared to the 6 and that could be the difference. Pretty much how we all play NCAA football on the PS3 and Xbox

How Oregon Coach Chip Kelly Can Spark 'Moneyball' Revolution In NFL | ThePostGame

I was just going to post the same article. Kirk should read it. The Penn State coach also goes for it a lot on 4th and short.

I also just ready this. Very interesting. I hope the Chiefs go after him!!! (only because I know he would never come to Iowa).

Excellent article. Everyone needs to read it.

Kirk Ferentz and his conservative tendencies are costing Iowa points, and wins. We already knew that, but this article talks about how overwhelmingly wrong he is to punt the ball on 4th and short... no matter the field position.

Hopefully Brian Ferentz is working on his dad to change his ways. His previous boss understood the mathematics and "moneyball" approach to football. Hopefully it rubbed off on Brian.

If the "style" of football discussed in this article becomes the "norm" in the college ranks, Iowa will forever be left in the rear view mirror with the current philosophy.

Teams with aggressive offenses that regularly go for it on 4th and short have shredded the Hawks in recent years. I think the evidence speaks for itself.

I just hate how the radio hosts *cough* travis and tim *cough* keep saying 90% of coaches would punt there. That's simply not the case.

Kirk refuses to listen to other theories. You will do it his way, and if you "don't execute," then it wasn't his theory that is wrong, it is the players not making plays.

Just run the JVB wedge play. He had 2 rushing TD's with it at NW. He's a dual threat QB!

(Edit: Well, he would be if he could throw a TD pass.)
