4 days away, and..

I don't post a lot here anymore, to a lot of your guys pleasure, but here we are a mere 4 days away. After several months of waiting for this, complaining about that, speculating on who and where... I've got to say my excitement button has reset and I'm optimistic about the start of football!

its been a crazy off season, one that I think illuminates the problems of the program's direction, but I just can't help but to be excited for the damn season to begin.

sorry I have no inside info to offer, don't have any classes with athletes and I don't have a roommate who's gf is best friends with Ruddock anymore... Just coming to share my anticipation.

my official predictions:

realistic 5-7: Losses this weekend and at ISU cement this as KFs last season

Hopeful (and not totally far fetched): 10-3 with a good bowl game win

Happy CFB season y'all!

Meh, water under a bridge HOCK23. For the record at least speaking for myself I didn't mind your posts, I just didn't agree with you on who was to blame with you know who leaving (no need to rehash the whole thing). Just a difference of opinion was all.

Keep on post 23, we need some action around this board!! Maybe the season itself will finally bring posters back.
 
Welcome back. This board has been pretty difficult to stomach throughout the off-season.

Here's to hoping the season brings plenty of stomachable moments this year!!

I often wonder where everyone went. I like the format of this board and I respect Jon, so I keep coming back. There are still some good posters around here, but I agree, we need some more action around here. I can only take so much of the HawkNick act.

I didn't go anywhere, I still read the site almost daily. Just didn't have anything to post to contribute very often.

jon is a very cool dude, and this is the only Hawkeye site I visit. Only sports site really minus ESPN.

as for those calling me a troll, I see I still have my fan club... I just may start posting more, for YOUR pleasure!

im an admitted cyclone basketball fan, so if that makes me a clone then so be it. Not many "clones" had season tickets up through this season though for THE U of I football. (Speaking of "THE", I see a provost from OSU is applying for president.. Anyone suppose that might be a good sign for Iowa football?)

I think the amount of trolls really drive people away. Or if not away, keeps them from posting or contributing.

Many times people think a difference of opinion is "trolling". I think there was a time I thought you might be one (basically for the difference of opinion), but that was awhile ago, and since then I've never thought that was what you tried to do or are trying to do.
 
I would not call people trolls due to a difference of opinion. Even when it comes to the people who are all negative all the time no matter what.

This wouldn't surprise me one bit. The lack of moderation around here lets them have free reign so there are very few threads where a troll doesn't post. I'm sure Jon is trying for the most part but unless you read this site on a (mostly) daily basis, a lot of them are hard to spot.
 
Keep posting. It's a free board. I just wish Iowa State fans would identify themselves, and bring some honesty to their posts. I think your historical posts would indicate that in all probability you ARE NOT an Iowa State fan, but if you are, that really should be disclosed.

The screen name does scream troll but his posts show he's not. There really isn't much bullying going on anymore which was Jon's goal. But cleaning house took away a lot. There just aren't many posters who start threads anymore. I can't believe how often I come here because something big happened but there is no tread started. I post quite a bit but I'm not much for starting my own threads.
 
I know how that goes. I got on during the Iowa basketball games in Europe a few weeks ago. There were no game threads. So I started the threads and kept them updated with the scores myself. That was a surprise for an otherwise slow news period.

Yup, I was at a Jonny Orr basketball camp when I was younger, and the mayor himself was my coach during it. I am and always will be a cyclone basketball fan because of that.

Everything else (baseball, wrestling, football) I bleed black and gold. Just not, as a personal and insignificant show of displeasure in the direction of the program, with my wallet this year.
