39 of 50 at the FT Line

<80% is impressive???

Plus, we can't expect to get 50 attempts every game. We are really in trouble if we can't work on the perimeter game...

Davidson led the nation last season with 80.1% free throw shooting. So yeah, 79% would be pretty impressive. So would getting to the line for 50 shots, which might happen more regularly than you think, at least until teams adjust to the new rules.

Wait. Is someone denigrating 39-50 FT shooting in an exhibition game? This is like playing a FCS football team. You're gonna win just by showing up unless you're Iowa State. And you never show anything to your future opponents. This basketball team is going to be sick.

don't know what they are thinking with these new rules... I mean I hate MSU mugging and everything but man.

It's going to get worse before it gets better. When teams get adjusted to the rules, I think everyone will be very happy with the product.

Right now Lick is probably thinking "what's the big deal? My teams scored 39 points allot too".

Exactly... the transition period will be rough and everybody drags their feet with change but in the end, it should result in a more enjoyable game.

If games stay being called like this, it's going to help Iowa and hurt teams like MSU and Wisc. MSU has enough talent it won't matter for them, but Wisc will struggle not being able to mug teams anymore.

I said this in another thread but it probably deserves repeating. I think that fans that are expecting teams like MSU, OSU and Wisconsin to go down hill due to the new rules are truly waiting for it to rain in the desert. Why? They have good coaches that will have their players adapt. None of those teams were affected their first game and in Wisconsin played a team with high major talent and it was Wisconsin that shot more FT's.

I don't think other teams will go downhill. I think that when they play Iowa though, Iowa will get to the line a lot. This is nothing new for Iowa, they were 3rd in the nation in FT attempted, and 2nd in FT made. With more fouls being called this year, Iowa is going to gonna go to the line even more.

OSU and MSU won't likely take a big step back. They have tremendous athletes up and down the roster who are more than capable of defending the right way if they want to. Wisconsin, on the other hand, does not possess many such athletes. I do think they will take a step back, because they relied on mugging because they had to. MSU and OSU have done it because they could get away with it.
