3 winnable games in a row

Thats what we have coming up with games against Indiana, Michigan and Penn State.

I would be thrilled with winning 2 out of 3.

I agree, 2 for 3 would be awesome, a big confidence and momentum builder. But let's first defend the home court and get one in the W column. Reading Fran's interview with Jon, he says the difference from top to bottom in the league is less than you might think. These will be tough games for sure. I'll buy the (cheap) champagne after we win one.

What are you smoking? We suck. I'd be thrilled to pick up one of those. The deeper we get in the season the tougher it gets... they watch our game film and know we can't play D.

tough to categorize any of those games as "winnable", the Indy game is winnable I guess but at this point I think winning any of these games would fall in to the "upset" or "suprise win" category.

We're favored by 2 against Indiana so I'm not sure how that would qualify as an upset. The two on the road would both fall in that category though.

Just not buying that Iowa can win 3 in a row. I wish they could.

I agree with the poster who said that Penn State is the toughest. Heck they almost pulled the upset at Purdue losing by just 2. I also don't think Iowa can play with Michigan for 40 mins.

If Iowa loses Sunday I suspect we are staring at a big goose egg the rest of the way. :(

We are barely favored over Indiana (2 points). We will be close to a ten point dog at PSU and probably 6-7 at Michigan. If we don't beat Indiana I fear we won't win another game.

Couldn't agree with you more about the playing for 40 minutes bit. They usually find a way to trade baskets for 25-30 minutes each game but then can't seem to avoid 10-15 minutes where they look as though they are completely lost and give up the big runs. Unfortunately lately we've came out flat the first few minutes and manage to put ourselves in a position where we're playing from behind.

IMO if we can somehow keep our composure for a full 40 minutes and not show how inexperienced we are by losing focus then we'd actually be a pretty solid team or atleast competitive. More front court depth would also help.

Are you thrilled? A split this week would be great and and then we get MSU coming to town who has looked as beatable this year as any time in the past few years.

Am I too optimistic? More than likely, but it is fun to be excited about Iowa basketball again.

A conference road win out of this year's Iowa team would be fantastic, so I would be thrilled with a split this week. I think either game is winnable, but we will have to play our absolute best to win either one of them. Not gonna be easy. But at least we got one win under our belt - so hopefully our team will play loose and with a sense of confidence this week.

I agree on MSU. They seem vulnerable right now, and I'm not necessarily saying we win, but I wouldn't write us off in the game we have with them in IC. We gave OSU a pretty good game in IC, so I think we could upset MSU..

imagine that, someone thought we would go 0-18 and we win not only 1 but also looking at another 4 games in a row we could hang around have a chance of winning. imagine if we won the next 4. I have a feeliing the house would be full and rocking for Wisconsin and Minnesota and might give us a shot against them as well. I think I'm getting a little too optomistic for what this team is capable of.

I'll be honest. I don't think Iowa losing in round 1 of the Big Ten Tourny this year.

Also, it should be noted. if we win these next 2, we are likely tied for 7th in conference wins at 3.

I am not sure that I would call any road game winnable. PSU and Michigan have more athletes than we do, so I just hope we compete from start to finish in both games and avoid the 17-2 runs that have haunted us. Battle and Hardaway Jr. are two guys I am not sure we can guard.
