3/6/14 Bracketology

During the Tournament Selection special on BTN the other night Jerry Palm said Iowa is pretty well locked in as a 7 seed at this point. Of course a win tonight @MSU should improve Iowa's resume significantly.
 
Potential of seeing Syracuse as a 3 seed. The way they are playing right now, I would take that, but my fear is they will find their mojo again, and we'd be playing a very difficult 3.

Yes, I pay more attention to the seedings in these than I do the actual match ups, but I'd say this puts Syracuse into a pool of teams we could potentially face in a second round game.
 
We go 0-3 the rest of the way and we're a 10 or 11 seed.
1-2 then we're an 8 or 9
2-1 we're a 6
3-1 we're a 5 or 6
4-1 we're a 5
5-1 or better we're a 4
 
5-0 was also not on the list. I think if we go 5-0 we're a 4...chance at a 3. Upsets elsewhere could help us. Winning at Michigan State and then beating teams like Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin on a neutral court gives us a shot at a 3...definitely no worse than a 4 IMO.
 
Hate it....

I don't care how bad Syracuse is playing I want NOOO part of that zone.

Of the 1 seeds... KU is fine and I've love to have another shot at Nova.

Exactly...Iowa does not have the zone busting shooters to match up well with Syracuse.

Well, "5-1 or better" was meant to include that. But you're right that I suppose a 3 seed isn't out of the picture.

Sorry. I didn't think about 5-0 being better than 5-1...makes sense now. If there aren't upsets and we play the toughest teams each round of the BTT we could get up to a 3. If we end up playing Nebraska or Indiana along the way due to an upset it's much less likely.

The 3 seams to be a good position for the hawks to make a deep run.

The way we will be playing and our confidence level will be off the charts...considering what we have to do to get a 3 seed. The talking heads would be all over Iowa again.

I was making a bad northwestern state joke. But I agree that we would be in really good shape.

I think we will be the best team compared to our seed. That's not really a great thing because it means we under achieved but it is what it is. This statement only applies if we are a 6 seed or worse of course.
