3/4 more teams to MWC

There is no mention of ISU because everybody knows ISU brings nothing to the table. They've been living on borrowed time for a while now. They should be happy that they were a part of a big conference for as long as they were. The remnants of the Big 12 will not associate themselves with ISU. It's every man for themselves now.

How many times do we have to hear this argument from you and others? It is time to put that refrain away. You're not going to convince Iowa State fans by constantly insulting them and many of us live in households where we have graduates of Iowa and Iowa State. For those of us in that situation to demean ISU demeans your family members.

I'm not trying to convince anybody. It's just a fact, these remaining schools are all on their own. Let me put it another way. Let's say KU, MU, KSU, and ISU all got together and went in front of the MWC to try to get in. And let's say the MWC countered and said we want KU and MU but not the other two. What do you think KU and MU are going to do? Stand up for the other two or say to KSU and ISU, "see you guys later".

This may be a little harsh but there's some truth in it. And even though the reality Iowa State is facing is unfair, it's not personal.

I think ISU brings more than KSU, unfortunately for them, KSU seems to be tied to KU.

Actually they say they are publicly but aren't legally. If KU gets an offer for the final spot in the Pac10, then they take it and say bye-bye to K-State.

As far as the MWC is concerned, the bottom half of that conference is so terrible that I'd find it hard to believe they wouldn't take ISU. By adding as many BCS qualifying schools as possible, they're only increasing their chances of getting an AC bid.

logistically, ISU is the furthest east, and for the MT. West, that is a big deal when you think about sending your volleyball team to Ames or Lawrence for that matter. Ames doesn't add a lot of revenue, but it certainly adds a lot of expense.

People keep talkin about the autobid for the MWC. This autobid relies on 6 teams leaving the Big 12, which is still in doubt. If 6 teams remain in the Big 12, that league is better positioned to take a school like MWC schools than the MWC is positioned to take Big 12 schools. The schools that leave the Big 12 have to pay 10 million a piece to do so if the Big 12 does not vote to disband.

Also, the MWC has it's own Network that has not turned a profit and has some bizarre non-competing clauses where teams cannot profit from local revenue.

Really, the best teams in the MWC would benefit more by joining the Big 12 remaining teams than vice versa. Also, a merger with the Big East where an 8 team Big 8 Champion played the winner of an 8 team Big East would definitely warrant an autobid.

Texas, Ok, OK-State, TT, with a punchers chance of Baylor, are gone Teusday. The BigXII is done. Toast, Stick a fork in it. There won't be enough teams to constitute the BigXII and therefore no payout by any of the teams that bolted.

Yep and yep. I'm thinking the best case scinario for the cyclones is to take their show out East. Get exposure, have Tagliabou start their BigEast network and see how it goes. But a lot of pieces have to fall into place in order for that to happen.

This makes sense, but Boise's move yesterday makes it seem like the MWC is here to stay. If they're not going to end up in the same conference as Utah and TCU then why even leave the WAC?

And the Big East will probably be down at least a couple teams once expansion moves east and the ACC comes calling.

So Baylor offers more than ISU? They will need to take four teams to have even numbers. That leaves ISU vs Baylor. I would think in that situation KU, KSU, and Mizzou would push for their neighbor to be included to allow for more drivable games.

I'd like to see ISU remain in a relivent league especially if we have to keep playing them. MWC is becoming more so while the BE is becoming less. so if it is ISU vs Baylor for 1 spot in the MWC, I'll be compelled to pull harder for ISU to do better then I expect this year.

I try to put myself in the shoes of others as much as I can..and when I try to do that given ISU's current situation, it isn't hard to begin to feel bad for them. This seems like a horrible situation for them related to something they care deeply about...feeling like no one wants you has to suck. It would be pretty anxious times if the roles were reversed.

But Jon, that's the beauty of this situation. It does suck for them. Their fan base has been loaded with the most delusional, obnoxious, and Iowa obsessed group of misfits than any other in the country. For years they have belittled everything Iowa and the Big 10, and now they have the nerve to whine if they do not gain entrance into our league because their own is falling apart. I was in Ames for a game one year when their fans were throwing oranges at our players on the field after an Iowa touchdown. They were yelling F**k Iowa and harassing Hawk fans both verbally and physically. Where was ISU's sportsmanship when Pollard put up that billboard? Or when they tried to force Iowa fans to buy ISU season tickets just to see the Hawks play in Ames. Iowa never did that to them. They are now reaping what they have sewn. I have compassion for those that deserve it, but this is a group of vermin that can never suffer enough as far as I'm concerned.
