29 yards rushing?

I hope that the 29 yards rushing were due to the rebirth of Desert Storm and not what we will look like against good teams. Is the o-line that bad?

You really didn't pay attention, did you? 'Zona jumps out early. They pin their ears back and bring heavy heat, which is meant to pressure Stanzi, but also swallows up the run in the process. Shonn Greene wouldn't have put up good numbers against that.

We needed to call a few screen passes to slow down that blitz. I saw two pretty evenly matched teams out there - one made 3 big plays and one made 2 big plays, the team that made 2 big plays lost.

Agreed. I was really hoping that we'd bring out the jailbreak last night after we saw how hard UA was blitzing. Give the ball to DJK on that and he makes BIG yards. Would've almost been like having C.J. running it again.

This guy is a troll. Read some of the other posts. Clearly didn't even watch the game.

I'm not a believer in that kind of logic. Just because a team decides to do X,Y & Z suddenly means we cannot do something.

Great teams can impose their will at anytime and on anyone. Some were calling in Hawkeye nation for a national title run. If we were truly capable as a team we would have found a way to impose our will at the line of scrimmage. The O-Line was simply not capable of winning the battle up-front.

We lost this game in the trenches and with sloppy execution.

It's a tribute to the team that we were even in this game.

KOK may have to drop out of the race for prez after that playing calling performance.

Needed the WR buble

Again, blocking 8 guys with 5 was not going to happen. You'll notice that rarely cuts it, for any team.

Arizona executed a perfect game plan, stack the box to stop the run and make us one dimensional, that way their best players on defense (ends) can just run free. Too bad we couldn't counter with more plays to expose that, but it didn't happen.

Our special teams will get a face lift this week I'm guessing. It always makes a difference when starters take over on special teams. This game was lost on special teams, no place else.

If anything, with all of the passing we had to do you would think we could have been able to mix in a few run plays that would've went for 10-20 yards but we couldn't cuz our O line was terrible. The only reason we got 29 yards was because Hampton was able to run over a couple guys at the line of scrimmage to get 3-4 yards per run. Robinson can't do that, he has to have a full head of steam to do that, if he gets any contact in the backfield or at the line he goes down very easy. If he has to be our featured back that is not good. He did great against bad teams because our line opened up holes that anyone could run through. I like him and he can be good for us just not featured

Have you watched A-Rob before last night? That description doesn't fit his previous performances at all.

We got whipped in the trenches period. That's most disappointing to me.

Watch the tape and you'll see that.

The most troubling thing is what they did to Clayborn. I don't know if he's just looking ahead to the NFL or what, but All-American d-linemen have to deal with double teams. Roth got doubled all the time and was still plenty disruptive. When they were bringing 2 guys up the middle, we should have adjust play calling to get some screens going or looked for Reisner in the seam.

This was a blue print game for other teams. I think at least 3 more teams on our schedule will execute this gameplan against us. The preseason rankings are always wrong, I think we see the B10 shake out with OSU first and Sparty second.
