Since Chris Street was mentioned here, thought I'd share this link. I was digging up Val Barnes' stats the other day and stumbled across this:

This is the first time I'd heard about this. Obviously, we can all be thankful that there were not even more people in that car, otherwise we might have lost two Hawkeyes that night.

Good list. Forgot how young some of those guys truly were.
Side note: The day Darryl Kyle died was the last time I stepped foot in Wrigley. I'll never forget watching the players come out for BP and then both teams disappearing and the announcement that the game had been postponed. Never gave a reason, but rumors had already began spreading throughout the stadium. Wasn't able to hear anything to confirm it until the car ride back to Iowa.
I know...cool story.

I remember that day quite well. I was driving around town running some errands and stuff and always liked to turn on Cubs games on the radio, and they mentioned what had happened. That was totally bizarre hearing Pat Hughes & Ron Santo talking about the game being postponed because a Cardinals player had died.

Not flaming, as I have zero interest in racing, but wasn't Earnhardt about at the end of his career when the accident occured? I was kind of suprised to see him on this list as from what I've heard of him he was considered amazing well before the accident. Unlike many of the others, I think he reached/met his potential.
