Ish.
That's more than Michigan beat them by.
We don't have all our starters back.
We will probably take it easy and just try to work on things.
I know they aren't very good. I know if we wanted we could name the score.
Only possible reason I see to beat them soundly is for the rankings and perception. Which matters. Because then future matchups will Garner more national attention. That helps with recruiting, especially if we thump Michigan and beat a high ranked Wisconsin.
I just don't know if I would want any action at -24.

We will probably come out throwing and look like crap....keeping the score close

Come out in 2nd half and pound the ball and pull away

starters play every snap

-24 the guys in vegas must think Iowa has a better offense than Michigan.

Got beat by Michigan by 19, Duke by 23. If MTS wasn't coming off their bye week they might be a little fatigued and tired of being overmatched, but I would expect them to be fired up and rested on Sat. Iowa usually a little sluggish coming off our bye week, so I'm gonna guess in the 34-13 range. The Hawks certainly don't want to show MIchigan anything new so I expect to see very vanilla playcalling.

Try HyVee's floral department ... guaranteed to take the edge of those cold temps plus they may have a fuel saver on fresh cut flowers.

That's what I'm thinking. The way the schedule sets up, along with the injuries.
It would be dumb to show anything or risk anything this week. Heck the way the injury bug is, the timing of the game, ect, if we are up 24, why not get more time for back up qb, and basically run all 2's and 3's.
I don't think it really matters in the rankings and really who cares about those before the meat of the schedule. You could beat them by 60 and be lucky to to move up a spot.
I agree with everyone that's been saying health is the main thing right now.
The healthier we are going into conference play, the better. Plus a lot of guys get valuable experience.
Take the money line and don't be greedy.

I think one of the best lines (I just gave it a quick glance) is the PSU MD game.

I hope the hawks have the big lead and let Petras get in and actually throw some passes, let some other freshmen and backups get some playing time. Getting your backups some game time reps is how the big boy programs keep their top status.

Iowa unquestionably has a better offense than Michigan. Have you watched Michigan play??
That cover sounds good as gold. I shy away from the spread most times but that one screams cover to me.

At home, shit team, damn good chance of wet weather keeping the ball on the ground and the game out of the hands or our secondary,

HOWEVER

Since 2015 MTSU is...

10-1 ATS with rest advantage
3-1 ATS against ranked teams
5-2 ATS after a bye

It is weird that by the time Iowa plays Michigan, they will already have 2 common opponents. Iowa and Mich will have has both played MTSU and Rutgers by then.

Michigan has opened as a 27.5 point favorite over Rutgers. Since Iowa beat Rutgers by 30, I guess tha confirms that oddsmakers currently think that Iowa is slightly better than Michigan.

But somehow despite all that, I think Mich will be favored over Iowa when they play on Oct 5, probably due to Mich having the home field advantage. Of course, Iowa needs to play MTSU and Mich play Rutgers first, before we begin any serious discussion of what the spread will be against Michigan.

To me this feels like one of those sleepy games where Iowa comes out slow and maybe goes into halftime up like 10-3 or 7-0 or something lame like that. Think the Northern Illinois game last year. Then Iowa destroys the second half.

Hope I'm wrong

Michigan beat em by 19 at the Big House. I think we are a slightly better team than Michigan and Mich gave up 21 pts to Middle Tenn. I don't think we give up 20 but we also may not score 40 +.

I wouldn't be confident enough to lay the points but I also wouldn't be confident enough that Midd Tenn will cover either.

I just read the original post. Looks like we have similar thoughts.

That's where I was going. Interesting that you caught that. The getting 100 percent healthy is the key. The slow play.

Exactly. A person isn't supposed to be greedy anyway and that is exactly what I get from this line. Everything considered, it's tough to take either side of it.
But, I don't ever bet against my team, that seems like bad ju ju, to do that. If I don't like the spread or $ line I just leave it alone.

I'm with you... I've tried to stay away from betting the Hawks.

Oh I'll bet my home team, but I never bet against them.
If I think they can/will cover or win, sure I will bet. But I won't bet they don't cover.
Just a thing with me. It feels sacrilegious or something to bet against your team.
There are lots of other games out there with interesting lines.
