the Flubs played their first night game in Wrigley. It was rained out and therefore not official.
they can't do anything right

It was memorable for the tarp-slides, though. :p

Yes, thus relagating the trivia answer of 8-8-88 for the first official night game meaningless. It's the Cubs! We know who we are! :)

LOL
My parents entered the ticket lottery but ended up with two seats for 8-9-88. Leading up to the Big Night, they were kind of bummed that they weren't going to be at the first game (both lifelong Cubs fans). Then the rain-out. That storm made them very happy! :)
I still have both games on VHS tape, somewhere in my house.

I always knew you came from good stock. :)

I think I have VHS tapes somewhere as well.

I also have a VHS of that game. I think if I inventoried my VHS tapes I'd have over a hundred Bull's games from the 90's and a handful of Cub's games. I still have the Kerry Wood 20 strikeout game on tape too, the baseball God's shined down on me that day and recommended I stay home in my Church St basement apartment and watch that game and forego classes. But, I have no VCR anymore.

I was lucky - my entire family, both sides, were Cubs fans. Two of my uncles had season tickets from basically the beginning of time, so I got to go to games from when I was a little squirt. Saw Fergie pitch a few, saw Ernie, the whole shootin' match. Caught a Mark Grace foul ball once...and gave it to my girlfriend-at-the-time. ;)

We are brothers from another mother, Ike. I too have a ton of Bulls games on tape, as well as Hawkeye FB and BB. We still have a vcr, but it's boxed and in the attic. If I ever get really nostalgic, I'll hook it up and pop in some of those tapes. :D

Vin, first off I can't believe my pops was messing around on my mom! If I had a VCR I don't think I'd have top rely on nostalgic impulses to pop in a Bull's game and watch MJ dominate the 4th Q of a (insert any year from MJ's career) Knicks game, or anybody else for that matter.

Caught? Or beat up the dude next to you for it after it landed in the trash?

I was hammered and didn't even notice Grace's line foul as it zoomed toward me (sitting above the dugout on the third base side). It hit me in my left inside forearm and bounced down to my feet. I snatched it up and looked at it in puzzled silence. Then I gave it to the gal-pal.
I had a bruise on my arm for almost a week. Gracie scorched that ball.
