10 YEARS STRONG!! Welcome Back!

-----

If it's your first time playing, or you need a refresher, here are the basic rules:

- Pick a team you think will win each week.
- - - - Week 1 does not include Week 0 this year (obviously) as it has in the past. So, some teams have already lost and are not available. Week 1 is Thursday, August 28 through Monday, September 1.

- You can only pick a team that is currently undefeated.

You can only pick an FBS team that is playing an FBS team. (don't bank on other players calling you out to help. Google it if you're not sure about a team).

- You can only pick a team once per season!

- If the team you pick wins, you survive to the next week.

- Picks must be made before the kickoff of the game you pick (based ONLY on time stamp of your post) or will be a DQ. They must be made public on this board, NOT a message to me.

- If necessary, we will pick up-to and including "Bowl Week" to determine a winner.

On Iowa, Go Hawks!

I am sitting out this year and will be cheering for each and every one of you. Got more grand children in my life that I want to focus on this fall.

Oh I’ll be watching the Iowa games and have my tv’s wrapped in bubble wrap on poorly called or poorly executed offensive plays.

As much as I have been hard on Kirk for his very conservative approach I will congratulate him on tying the big ten win record this Saturday and hopefully breaking it against Iowa State.

Lester will bring a whole new dynamic to the offense which should really keep Iowa State’s defense off balance and on their heels.

The winner of that game will still be in the hunt for a possible playoff big. Iowa obviously has the tougher pathway. Yes the big twelve is a offensive based conference, with defense’s more relative to Fran’s mindset on defense in basketball.

Iowa cannot afford to loose to Iowa State. If we can’t beat these guys then the big ten schedule looks daunting to say the least.

Who would have ever thought that Indiana would start the season favored to finish above Iowa. This is what happens sometimes when coaching staffs change.

We shall see how this works out with our basketball team. Fran did one hell of a job on bringing our program back from the Lickliter debacle. Unfortunately March madness was maddening. Fans got bored and found other things to do in the winter times.

It’s always beautiful in Kinnick early and mid fall. Even before Hayden arrived fans had fun watching the band at halftime and tailgating before and after the games. Best results were made enjoying the spirits before the game. That way it helped sitting and watching the first half. Then the band at half time and then a lot of fans got up and left.

Kirk has kept us from that level. It won’t bold well if Indiana maintains status above us for very long. Maybe last year was just a fluke for Indiana with scheduling being a factor.

FOMO (fear of missing out) and FOGW (fear of getting worse) can lead to stagnation. Michigan and Penn State went through that for a few years but it appears they got the right coaches in and are back on top of their game. I guess Michigan is in a wait and see mode since the sigh stealer left.

Life long bear’s fan and I was never happier than when hairball left. He sucked at QB. I was happy for Payton when they brought in Jim McMahon and wide receiver, Willie Gault, and one of the most dominant defenses in NFL history to give sweetness a Super Bowl Ring.

Week 1: Rutgers (in the history of this pool I don't think I've ever said that before and probably never will)
