In your defense, there are a lot of the sort of middling teams I'd look to for a week one pick playing FCS competition this year. Ultimately I had a non-trivial time getting more that ~3 teams that I really wanted to burn who were also playing bad FBS teams.
 
A couple of things.

1. Can we pin this at the top of the football forum for easy access?

2. Here is a list of all the FBS schools that qualify. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NCAA_Division_I_FBS_football_programs

3. I am still deciding if I will be able to participate this year……….. I know, I know, two time returning champ. I have a lot going on this fall. If I pick a team this week that means I am going for a three peat.

Several on this site are pretty damn good at this so I was pretty fortunate the last two seasons.

You must! Pick a few placeholder teams in advance, just in case you miss a week or two.
 
Well they don’t call it suicide pool for a reason. I don’t normally roll the dice like this but WTH.

1. Boise.
The analysis on this game is interesting to say the least. Boise’s secondary struggled last year but made improvement toward the end of the year. They also brought in upgrades for the secondary through the portal. They have a much bigger offensive line than Georgia Southerns defense is used to and Boise’s running backs are very good. Boise has never lost to any team in the conference that Georgia Southern is in.

Georgia Southern has an unreal high winning percentage at home for their opening games. GS returns a lot of players from last year. GS also has very highly talented receivers, BUT their QB is very inexperienced and threw for only around 100 yards last season.

The southern heat and humidity could be a factor for the mountain boys from Boise.

Next up for Boise is Oregon. Good luck with that. They are not wanting to go into that game 0-1.
