2021 Recruiting

So 247 Sports released their initial rankings for the class of 2021 yesterday, and interestingly, there's a lot of high-level prospects that Iowa has a really solid relationship with and could feasibly snag during the cycle.

OT David Davidkov (93, 4-Star) I know has been on campus at least once or twice, with Rob mentioning his name.

OT Riley Mahlman (92, 4-Star) is a similar situation.

DT Gabriel Rubio (91, 4-Star) had his own article by Rob pretty recently.

Seems like OLB Randolph Kpai (94, 4-Star) has been on Iowa's radar for a while, and our early relationship with him has got to help.

In-state DE TJ Bollers officially gets rated as a 90 OVR 4-Star, and considering he's an Iowa legacy, gotta like our chances there.

In-state OT Connor Colby gets a 90 OVR 4-Star rating as well, and already has one crystal ball prediction to Iowa as well.

In-state DT Griffin Liddle does not have a rating yet, but seems very similar to Tyler Linderbaum ('18 4-Star) and Logan Jones ('19 4-Star), and has a very good offer list as well. Seems to be all but a Hawk too, with 4 CB predictions to Iowa.

If things pan out, could be another banner recruiting year. Really like the progress we're making on this front.

Probably a long shot, but that Brockmeyer kid came in at #3 in the country. He recently visited Iowa and was in the weight room when Wirfs broke the record so that had to be a pretty cool visit.

Trayvion Ford is a 5* DE from St Louis who has visited multiple times and said good things about Iowa and his relationship.

2020 is off to a great start and hopefully we finish it strong with at least one of the high level TEs and some skill guys (WRs). 2021 has the potential to be even better. I really feel recruiting has been on a major upswing in recent years.

It starts in the trenches, so always great to get your top targets in there. It’s helped that the state is producing some good talent right now.

We’ve also done really well in the secondary and at the QB spot in recent years. Would like to see the WR and RB take the next step (Goodson is a good start).
