Guessing we ran out of pitching after a long weekend series vs. Michigan.

Pitching depth isn’t deep. If I remember correctly, they’re young.
I’m sure Heller would have liked to bring in Daniels to end the game but he pitched 4 in Sunday’s win.
Hope you’re this game isn’t a “tie-breaker” between Iowa and Mizzou making the CWS-playoffs.
Really need 2 of 3 vs. BigXII leading OKST this weekend.

Yeah. That’s not good. I thought maybe Heller would throw Shanual out there to see if he could do something for a couple innings since his Saturday start va Michigan was short.
Beating Mizzou would have been the same in the RPI as beating OK ST a game this weekend. Really need 2 of 3 this weekend
because the last two weekends vs NW and PSU will drag the RPI down even with 4-2 or 5-1 against those two.
Sweeps are necessary to limit RPI damage for a possible at-large CWS regional play.
but 4-2 will definitely get us into the Big10 tournament. 3-3 might.
Happily, with the tourney in Omaha, the Cornhuskers are on the outside looking in
Absolutely! this team has proven over and over again they can compete with the best in the country! Very rarely to we have a lopsided loss.

Every other +500 team in the Big10 ran over NW like roadkill — all sweeps.
Hawks? Lose 2 of 3 ....

Now it’s at 63 — not NCAA regional number.
If they beat W.Ill and sweep PSU it is predicted to drop another 10 spots because those teams are horrible.
Now they have to win the Big10 tournament.

If they calculate the RPI the same way as basketball 50% of the RPI "score" is your own record. W.Ill is at least a road game, so that helps. But they have GOT to sweep Penn State.
A sweep and a good showing in the B10 Tournament could get them in.

You’re probably right. 4-0 is a must this week.
Going 3-3 against the two worst teams in the B1G will be very bad optics. If that happens, BTT or sitting it out this season.

Well you were right on the RPI drop, according to the NCAA website they are now at 66. It's gonna be tough to get an at large bid into the NCAA tournament.

Those two losses to NW are killers.
Heller said he doesn’t understand RPI because any other season with this year’s schedule it would be in the 30s.
I think the error he had this season is like Fran’s — some really top end RPI teams but some really poor +200 games. I think he tried to mitigate that some by canceling the home game vs W.ILL and scheduling a game vs Mizzou that they should have won.
It’s not like they went out of their way to schedule bad teams, they’ve been playing MOValley teams from Illinois. Probably need to strengthen it with games against Creighton, Wichita St, etc.
You would think series wins vs. OkSt, Illinois, Michigan, and a split with Indiana would be enough but ....
The NCAA should put them in. Heller has proven they come to play every game in the tourney.
