2016 Recruit, 4 * Post Player Nick Rakocevic Visiting

I am glad he visited Saturday. The atmosphere was incredible!

Iowa seems to be in on a lot of star quality recruits that are 'friends' with each other. It bodes well with Iowa basketball. If they get the guys they are after, it will be a couple of years until they get here. The freshmen coming in next year look like high potential basketball players. With the coaching staff, I can see Iowa as being one of the top programs in the conference. It will be interesting to see what Fran can do with the team next year without this Olesani, Oglesby, and White. That's a lot of experience and quality to replace.

Oh yes, Seth Tuttle would have been such 'a reach'. Getting the Top 5 player in the country in 2015, would have been just horrible.

As I recall, 'some Posters/fans' were quite EXCITED about the 'Major' signings of Kyle Meyer and Tray Dickinson................

When Seth graduated from Sheffield HS he wasn't a Top 5 player in the state of Iowa. Oh, and just to be clear, Jarrod Uthoff was Iowa's Mr. Basketball in 2011 (the year Seth Tuttle graduated from HS).

Hey HawkIstate, do you really not understand that sometimes players can improve a ton after high school and there is no way anyone could ever see that type of improvement coming?

Case in point: Matt Fish. Played HS basketball at Washington, IA HS. Went to UNC Wilmington, not offered anywhere else (not even the mighty UNI). Worked his tail off and had a 6 year NBA career after stints in Europe and the CBA.

I saw him in HS and thought he might play at the D3 level, possibly D2 level, so he must have improved a LOT in college.

Jacobson would have spotted him. :)

And we weren't worried about missing out on Tuttle, Morgan and Lohaus. They're great players if you need someone to play little league.

Does anyone know what Fran is looking at for 2016? I looked up Nick Rakocevic but it doesn't show us recruiting him. I looked at the ESPN top 60 and could only find 2 kids that we were recruiting. One kid from Hopkins, MN and one from Detroit. Both 4 stars and we don't have an offer to either even though several teams have offered including the girls for ISU.

For the record 1hawkeye, I THOUGHT WE SHOULD HAVE OFFERED HIM AS A SENIOR IN
HIGH SCHOOL. You probably had never heard of him, until this spring.

So there's that. My sight is just fine..........Thank you very little

Link or not true. You have on the other hand said we should have offer Wyatt Lohaus over Ellingson and Morgon over Jok, and Dileo and Bohannon over Fleming/Hutton/Moss. It is good to know we are dealing with a UNI fan and not a Hawk fan seeing how you prefer them over the Hawks that did commit, that practice hard, work hard and have gotten the program back to respectabity.

There are hits and misses on recruiting every year. Players bodies can change quite a bit in a year or two. You probably want to recruit the guy that has high athletic ability, a high motor, and is relentless in his work ethic. Its pretty amazing how much Kaminsky has improved at Wisconsin in three years. There probably aren't many kids that have 6 ft 9 inch former basketball players dads working out with them though. Wisconsin would probably be a good team without Kaminsky. Frans kids should be well versed in the game of basketball by the time they get to Iowa.

Hey PCHawk: Thanks for the question. Do you really NOT understand that it is the Job of this
Head Coach and staff to be able to evaluate and project when a kid, with a lot of size and potential is going to
be a First Team All American, like Tuttle has done.

We cannot MISS on players, like this, here in Iowa.

The reason Seth didn't come to Iowa is that he wasn' offered. That's a Miss.
And we move on.

Lesson complete

But you won't move on. You seem to be the only focused on this, and keep bringing it up over and over and over again. It wasn't a miss, he became a good player, just like hundreds of other good BB players around the country. Give it a rest already Duffer, your troll grows old.

This is my favorite website to see who we have offered

I remember the days when a thread started about an individual was all about that individual. Now it's a post with highlights, 3 ppl saying they want him, 2 usually saying ehh not impressed, then a ******* match about the same **** over n over.

It's pretty pathetic. I know it's a reach that kids read these and are swayed or affected, but imagine being Nick and reading this thread....

Come on dudes

^Agree with you but I doubt he's swayed because I'm sure the same ****** kind of match happens on the team sites of all the other teams trying to recruit him, so it's a wash.

He probably jumped off this thread halfway through page 2.
