2014

LB's and Safeties need to stay healthy. We pretty much have depth everywhere else. The QB, OL, DL, TE, RB, WR, Corner, and it's the LB in particular where we need to stay healthy.

The Hawks could be improved at QB, WR, RB, DL. Similar at TE, CB, S. Worse at LB.

If that comes to be, they should be a good team.

JR will be the QB. I wonder if Shimonek(sp?) can/will beat out Beathard for backup. I think it is entirely possible. Thoughts?

If it be 10 wins, let them include Nebraska and Wisconsin. Let them show improvement and be hot in November. If that be so, rankings won't be much to behold until it counts at the end.

I don't think 10 will get us in the playoffs.

10 would likely get us in the CCG and a win there gets us in contention for the playoffs.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves... There's a lot of football left to play.

You'd put money on it being run at least once during the season or what?

If that's the case, then I'd like to place my money on water being wet.

was answering the "think we will see a more diverse offense this year or more weisman to the left?" question at the beginning of the thread

I should know this, but I don't. Won't we have a new punter and kicker?

Connor Cornbrath will return as a punter - I do believe there will be new competition for that position. With Mike Meyer graduating, we will need a new place-kicker. And the success of the new kicker will be one of the intangibles of the success of the upcoming season.

oh crap...I think we will miss Meyer. He missed a few, but for the most part was money. The good news...we should be pretty damn good in the red zone...experienced OL, TEs, and a QB that can run. We can't do much about the conservative coach in the red zone...but we have weapons down there to get it in the end zone. We are going to have a big athletic OL also. My guess is that Donnal moves outside because of his experience and Ward or Simmons is the second guard. Either way, we have size and experience. We also have 3 dudes that like to punish you...Scherff, Blythe, and Donnal have attitudes. From what I understand, it's going to be one hell of a battle between Walsh, Simmons, and Ward for the other two starting spots. With the extra year in the weight room and with a feed bag on, everyone of these guys will be over 300 pounds and can run. We simply need a back that can make things happen behind this group and make their job easier. Damn...when you also think that we have our entire starting DL (Hardy for Alvis)coming back, we should be able to play in the trenches with anyone and punish teams that don't have the experience or size. If these guys improve as much as they did in last year's offseason...we are going to be a tough out. Once again, Rudock is the key, but he just seems like a kid that is doing what is necessary to take the next step. If he's healthy...and he improves the deep ball throws, we become very difficult to defend.

Yes. The game inside the game is a huge variable. It could have meant at least one more win last year.

maybe the hawks will just never punt or kick .... just turn it over on downs inside the 35 a lot.

....damn that's a sad thought.

What do you mean, not punt inside the 35?

Also, "(Bo), we don't plan on punting."
