You have to be in early on recruits, you don't always get them, but you stand no chance if you don't get in early, aka last year and this years recruiting. Roy williams said we had no shot at Paige cause Fran got started so late, and he's a 2012 guy, how were we supposed to get upper echelon 2011 kids? Good to get in early on 2013 guys. I like it.

Yes that is more accurate statement, but I believe it also helped us getting some visits from bigger names.

So how did coming in late help with Washpun? Thats how it helps to get in early.

In lieu of being really good quickly, the only way we land the "next level" players is to show love early and hope they love us back when it comes time to commit. Washpun is not a next level player IMO and his TN offer came only as a result of Martin being named coach. It's not like Iowa was the only major D1 program to not show interest.
