2012 Opponent?

The Big Ten does not need to give Notre Dame any more money or recognition. They have the same recruiting footprint as the Big Ten. No Big Ten team should play them. Screw them.

Don't Michigan and MSU play Notre Dame every year? Who could they get to replace Notre Dame that would be anywhere near as attractive? Iowa gets ISU at home that year, so I'd say go for it.

Michigan and MSU could replace them with anybody and get the same amount of money. Playing ND takes money away from the Big Ten Network (and therefore, Iowa) and gives it to ND, because the game would be on NBC.

Did playing Notre Dame really improve Michigan's or MSU's strength of schedule? Not last season.

Does Michigan really need to play Notre Dame to get on national television? Nope.

Does MSU need to schedule ND to fill their stadium? Nope.

When Big Ten teams play ND, they might as well give them a check and a couple of recruits. ND needs to wither and die, or join the Big Ten.

You think MSU could replace Notre Dame with some I-AA or MAC school and get the same gate that a home game with Notre Dame would bring?

Only Notre Dame home games are NBC; when they go on the road it's either ABC or that conferences network that picks it up. When Notre Dame played at Michigan this year, it was on ABC. When Notre Dame played at Purdue last year, it was on ABC.

From what I understand this would be billed as a Home Game for Notre Dame similar to how NIU was the hometeam when we played them there in 07. So NBC would in all likeliness broadcast this game, similarly to the "home game" that ND played in san antonio last season.

Send the CyClowns to Chicago to play the Fainting Irish. God knows they need the money to fund their buyout of Greg (I have 600 plays in my playbook) McDivot

Here's a few teams to contact:
USC
Oregon
Texas
Oklahoma
Nebraska
Florida
Alabama
LSU
Miami (FL)
Virginia Tech

Big matchup means big money. Sorry to Golden Domers, but all of the above teams have a better shot at a National Title in any given year than ND. That means bigger TV revenue if Purdue, Michigan and Michigan State would consider no longer scheduling ND.

Not likely - too much rivalry and tradition with Michigan, Purdue and Michigan State for the ND games to go away anytime soon.

As long as NBC is willing to throw big bucks at ND for their game rights, ND will never join the Big ten. Besides who really needs them?

To think that Big Ten teams need to quit scheduling ND is ridiculous! Yes their fans are still living the glory days & think the team is the greatest in the nation, but there are a ton of those fans & that generates a lot of money. I would love to see a 2-year agreement where each team is the home team once & have the stadium split 50/50 like they do for OU/Texas.
