2011 soley on JVB right now?

If you look at last year in a little more detail, it's a little scary. Up through the MSU game, Iowa averaged 34.1 points a game. After MSU, the average is 20.6. Admittedly, there were some cupcake defenses on the front end (Ball State, ISU, E Illinois, Michigan), but a 2 touchdown drop is very troubling.

I'd be willing to sacrifice a few points on the overall average PPG if there was less variance around that average. On a more basic level, I would like to see a better 3rd down conversion percentage.

The best offense is a good defense. Right around the point of the MSU game, Iowa had lost their ENTIRE two deep (and then some) at the linebacker position. Although that helped give experience to the position for next year, it killed the defense in 2010. That kept the offense off the field, allowed opposing offenses to eat up the clock and put us in a corner.
If the linebackers can stay healthy, 2011 will be much different on the d-line, me thinks.

As for the offense, I agree with Jon, we will score at a clip equal to or better than 2010. Believe it.

Go Hawks!
