1. Overall Regular Season Record: 9-3 – Losses at PSU, MSU at home, at NEB
2. 1st team All Big 10 Hawks: Prater, Hyde, Reiff, McNutt, James Ferentz
3. Emerging Star Offense: Keenan Davis
4. Emerging Star Defense: Dominic Alvis (Norm Parker loves this kid)
5. Most Satisfying Win: Northwestern – Hawks finally knock off the Cats
6. Most Heartbreaking loss: MSU at home will be a close game and I think MSU has an edge in special teams which will determine the outcome
7. Most Entertaining Game: At Nebraska – Day after Thanksgiving on a National Stage – should be fun!
8. True Freshman who play significant roles this fall: Cooper (DL), McCall (RB), Law (S)
9. Bold prediction Offense: Coker gets 1500 yards and 12 + TD’s if he stays healthy
10. Bold prediction Defense: James Morris finishes with over 120 tackles and garners some 1st team All Big 10 votes.

11-1. :D Im not sure who we lose to, but im not going to predict 12-0.

Prater, McNutt, Morris, Reiff, Daniels, Ferentz

CJ Fiedorowicz

James Morris (if he counts)

Northwestern, I hate Fitz

Whatever loss we have

@ PSU, another classic between the Hawks and Nits

Torrey Campbell, McCall

Vandenburg is Top 3 in the Conference in passing efficiency

Hawks combine for 6 defensive/special teams touchdowns

Alternative A - best case scenario:

10-2 - losses to Purdue and Northwestern.

Lose Big Ten title game to Illinois and win Cap One bowl to finish out 11-3 - get left out of BCS game for Nebraska or MSU who has similar record but lost to us head to head and then jumps us after a bad performance in a big game or perhaps jumped by Wisconsin for a BCS game.

Alternative B - if the wheels come off the bus early and often:

6-6 (lose to pit then go 3-5 in conference), narrowly win some crappy bowl game against a MAC or Sun Belt team to finish 7-6. Hawk "fans" call for Ferentz's head yet again.

1. Overall Regular Season Record: 11-1, loss to Michigan State
2. 1st team All Big 10 Hawks: Prater, Reiff, Morris, JVB, Coker
3. Emerging Star Offense: JVB = the man
4. Emerging Star Defense: Alvis or Bigach
5. Most Satisfying Win: Nebraska at Nebraska, shutting up the stadium, their fans, and the hype for a whole season.
6. Most Heartbreaking loss: MSU will be the only loss so it has to be most heartbreaking
7. Most Entertaining Game: I agree its at Nebraska, especially when we house them at their own house!
8. True Freshman who play significant roles this fall: McCall
9. Bold prediction Offense: Coker and JVB despite horrible OC'ing by Okeefe win first team big 10 honors and lead what becomes the single best offense of the Kirk Ferentz era
10. Bold prediction Defense: James Morris reminds everybody of Hodge, Greenway, Tippett and MY MAIN MAN LARRY STATION and becomes 1st team All-Big Ten and second team all american in his sophmore outing. Further bold defensive prediction- our secondary sets a team record for most interceptions.

as a complete aside- Our defense will be back to normal cause Norms back full-time, will surprise everybody, and we will win the first ever Big-Ten Championship game and represent in some secondary BCS game as some lame-southern team who pays their players will go to the BCS title game just because they play for the SEC despite playing no defense all year long.

If we win the B10 title game and don't go to the big show, aren't we automatically in the Rose Bowl?

Sorry guys, this is a 7-5 football team (best case). Just too many unknowns and too many holes. We go to Insight Bowl again and win it again for final of 8-5.

Unless we play Derby at QB and run the option........

Special Teams will be better than last year.

Gettis will start at right guard but will not finish there.

AJ will throw a TD pass to Zach

Binns will intercept 2 passes

KD will catch a TD pass that no Hawkeye or Cyclone fan will ever forget

Austin Vier will run the veer (at IWCC)

I want to know where the 5 losses come from. I do not see 5 losses with this schedule.

5 losses with this schedule would be horrific.

I believe many were saying the same thing about the 2002 team, too. I'm not saying we're gonna run the table in conference, but I think 9-3 is very realistic and would be ok with that.

You'd better sack up then, 'cause it could happen easily. You seriously believe with all the talent they've lost that the same record would be horrific? I can find 5 possible losses easily. Not saying it will happen, but it could.

Something tells me you didn't see 5 losses on our schedule last year either.

I see us at 8-4 this year. We just don't protect our home field like we use to. I can remember(as a fan) feeling invincible inside Kinnick and being 100 percent confident that we would win every game at home. I'm not sure what happened. But I definitely don't count home games as automatic wins any more.

As is always the case with Ferentz coached teams, it just all comes down to whether we execute in the 4th quarter. That's why it's so hard to predict Iowa seasons. It always feels like we don't try to win the game from the initial kickoff. We just try and keep it close and then make the plays at the end to win it. Probably one reason why we never blow anyone out. And probably why we can have mediocre seasons when we have tons of returning talent and have great seasons when we have holes to fill.

if there are so many unknowns how can you be so sure of our record?
