2010 Spring game

Will it draw more people this year given our success?

I know we'll never have 90,000+ like Alabama or Ohio State, but I think we should really try to make this an event.

ESPN has even covered some spring events in previous years.

I wish it was more of a game than a practice. I think that would draw a much larger crowd.

I was already thinking about that the other day! I'm so pumped for next season, I definitely am going to try to make it to the scrimmage. If anything else, just to tailgate with friends and go to Kinnick for a bit...that should hold me over until August then.

When it was a game, I went regularly and we usually had a great time. Haven't made the scrimmage. I prefer the game, but I'm not in charge.

Weather pending, they have one every year.
not sure what you mean

sure, they used to have one, but recently it seems like they are using any excuse they can come up with to avoid it ... and when they have had it, it's not really a "game" any more

I went once, and it was mostly a bunch of dudes stretching. I have a mirror at home to watch a dude stretching, I don't need to drive 60 miles to watch it.

I just wish they would make it a game, but thats not ferentz "style".

It just seems like a lot of other programs make their spring game an event type thing, where we just have a few thousand people watch a glorified practice.

Hasn't the spring game not been around for a while now, with the team just holding a scrimmage in the bubble? To my knowledge, the only "open practice" for the team is the one they hold toward the end of camp in August.

Last year they had a scrimmage that was only open to the press, recruits and family. It was at the Kenyon practice field. They also did not have it during the years they renovated Kinnick. So the spring game has pretty much been non-existent. I hope they bring it back this year. I need some football, any football.

They had a scrimmage 2 years ago, but when they renovated the field last year, they did not have one. I am sure they will have one this year. I wish it was a real game. The last real game was in 2002 when Ed Hinkel went crazy and went on to have a great redshirt freshman year that year, and a great career.

Frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing a bunch of young twenty somethings stretching in their Lycra pants....

.....Hawkeye players anyway...not what passes for men in Miami....

I don't even understand the concept of Spring "games". If it's just your offense against your defense how can you really tell if there's been improvement or if there needs to be improvement. If the offense scores a lot of points, does that mean the offense is really good, or the defense really bad? If you don't know all the ins and outs and all the little things to look for, how would you know?
