IOWA CITY, IA – For the first time in memory Iowa has sold every ticket to every home game prior to the start of the season. The announcement was made today by Ticket Manager Pam Finke.
Over 59,000 season tickets will be mailed out and fans should have them in their hands by August 23rd. That’s an increase of about 11 thousand season tickets mailed out last season.
“We’ve got a terrific home schedule, the best fans in college football and a team that most experts are picking to do very well,†said Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta. “The fact that we’re sold out on a season ticket basis is very gratifying.â€
Iowa’s home schedule includes league rivals Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Ohio State. The non-conference home schedule opens with Eastern Illinois, followed by Iowa State and Ball State.
“It’s possible that a visiting team could return a few tickets during the course of the season,†said Finke. “But, at this time we have no tickets to sell for home games and I truly don’t expect to have any as the season progresses.â€
Iowa will conduct its first practice and will host the annual Media Day today. The season will open four weeks from Saturday (Sept. 4th) at 11 a.m. in Kinnick Stadium against Eastern Illinois.
The Hawkeyes have sold out 42 of its last 44 home games. Capacity at Kinnick Stadium is 70,585.
