One of the worse all time official hack jobs against an Iowa football team. They made sure Iowa lost to Florida.

The game affirmed my disdain for Florida fans.
In the first OB game, 1/2 of the Florida fans left in the middle of the 3rd quarter, boo'ing their team. We invited several FL fans to our parking lot tailgate before and after the game and they rudely refused. Poor losers.
I was sitting amongst FL fans during the 2nd OB game. They verbally insulted me and my date/Iowa in general/kept saying how "lucky" we were the first time around. Kept telling us to go back and bail hay, etc. And these were adults. They would put their feet up so we couldn't pass and were all pretty much generally obnoxious. Worse winners.

Sounds like a miserable experience, SDK. I've actually seen some Florida fans on message boards acknowledge the calls were BS and say that it cheapened the game for them. Sincere fans want their teams to win "the right way" but I guess the hype has gotten to the heads of the majority of Gator Nation.

Anyone who doesn't think this group of referees were not influenced needs to be examined. It wasn't bad officiating, it was clearly corruption.
It was Urban Meyer's first year and they need the win to carry momentum into the next year. Which they won the National Title the next year. Many people think we got selected over Michigan because we travel well.
I think Michigan was going to be a harder team to job, so the Outback committee which probably also benefits from a Florida National title decided to use Iowa as the sacfarifial lamb.

Yeah, I was at the game and it was probably the hardest Hawkeye loss I've ever had to stomach. It would have been easier had they just gotten blown off the field. However the refs clearly had that game fixed. It was the worst officating I have ever seen. The one that really gets me was the personal foul hit on Leak on the sideline. AAAGGGGHHHH!!!!
After the game we were at 'Howl at the Moon' (Awesome time FYI) in Tampa and were carrying around a printout of the offsides call that we got off the internet. Most Florida fans acknowledged how bad the officiating was. But for the most part that fan base is a bunch of pompous A-holes.
