The 05/06 Iowa men led by Greg Brunner, Haluska and Jeff Horner finished in second place of the Big 10 regular season one game behind Ohio State that year. However, Iowa beat Ohio State at Carver in February of 06 during the teams only meeting in the regular season. That Iowa men's team lost a crucial road game at Northwestern, a team they should not have lost to.which really cost them the Big 10 regular season title or share of it. OSU finsindhed one game ahead of Iowa at seasons end. In the Big 10 Tournament, Iowa was the #2 seed, Ohio State the #1 seed. The two teams met in the championship game with Iowa beating OSU and sweeping the series.

Flash forward to the 2018/19 women's Big 10 season. Iowa has been led by Gustafson, Hannah Stewart and Kathleen Doyle. They faced Maryland in February 2019 and beat the Terps at Carve Hawkeye to be tied with the Terps for first place in the BIG. However, Maryland won the regular Big 10 season title by one game over Iowa. Iowa was tied for the conference lead with Maryland only to lose a road game to IU, which they should have won. So the regular season ends with Maryland winning the conference outright by one game, just like the OSU men did in 06. So in the Big 10 Tournament, the Iowa women were a #2 seed, the Terps a #1 seed. As you know, the two teams met for the championship game with Iowa winning and sweeping Maryland just like the Iowa men in 06 did and making them the best team and outright conference champion.

Let's just hope the Iowa women don't get Northwestern Louisiana State women's team in the first round of the NCAA Tournament next week!

Yes. I don't need to see Jasmine Wallace, Tyronica Mitchell or Claudia Lee out there. Or Luna Rogers.
