To me this is much more exciting than recruiting. Time to cast your lot:

Ken O'Keefe
Charlie Bullen(sp?)
Demo Odems
Raih
Aiken
Blazek
Jerry Montgomery
Philbin

Any others ? I'm keeping it within the Hawkeye family after hearing/reading interviews with KF and BF

Based on what KF said at the press conference, it sounds like BF will NOT be keeping OL duties with his OC duties....which makes sense. I'm going to guess that BF takes on TEs with his OC responsibilities, they move Levar from TEs over to coach LBs and move Wallace to DBs, thereby freeing up Phil to only do DC responsibilities. They then hire separate OL coach, QB coach, WR coach, and RB coach and then split up special teams among different coaches (one gets specialists and another gets return/coverage teams).

I have no idea right now who they'd be looking at. I would have loved to see AJ Blazek come home from Rutgers to do OL, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

I am interested in seeing what coaches land where. I really think Iowa is gonna move Brian to TE as it is less players to be coaching, and move Woods back to the defensive side. I would like to see something like this:

QB/assistant OC - ??
RB/Special teams - ??
WR - ??
TE - Brian
OL - ??

DL - Morgan
LB - Woods
DB - Wallace
DC - Parker

I wonder if they don't move Reese back to OL, have Bell be full time DL, Woods at LB and Brian at OC/TE.

I like that too. Bell helps with DL now, and I also like the idea of bringing in new guys to cut their teeth as Recruiting Coordinator, and help coach one of the position groups. Bring in a new guy for that, Move Bell to DL and Reese back to OL would be nice moves.

QB/assistant OC - Chuck Long
RB/Special teams - Ladell Betts
WR - McNutt
TE - Brian
OL - Robert Gallery

I think Chuck would be too experienced, I'd go with Drew Tate.

Seriously though, I'd be fine with one of those guys, if for no other reason than they would be a good recruiter. I don't think we need an alcoholic WR coach, but a "let if fly I don't give a F" Drew Tate would probably be able to land some solid recruits. Location and just listening to him on the huddle cast shows me that he's likeable and probably able to connect with recruits.

An alcoholic WR coach? Huh? Is McNutt an alcoholic?

Is Chuck still doing broadcasting?

Yes, Nebraska's WR coach got his 3rd? OWI this fall and was suspended for a game or two. They landed quite a few good WR's this year with him.

I'm pretty sure we are waiting for the Superbowl to be over so we can watch Tom Brady retire and then come to Iowa as our quarterback coach. Gisele is excited for her new life in Iowa City.

I would cross off Aiken, and Philbin. I don't think either liked the recruiting game.

It'll probably be a coaches from Luther College or Simpson ;)

I'm hearing quite a few rumblings that KOK will be coming back to the staff. I'm guessing as probably a QB and/or WR coach and possibly passing game coordinator. While I wasn't the biggest fan of KOK in the past, it didn't have anything to do with his play design, it had more to do with the situational play calling. We'd be killing it with the run and for whatever reason he'd abandon it....for seemingly no reason other than to "be balanced". But I always enjoyed his use of the TE's, his use of play-action, and his use of the middle of the field. If we could get that part of it back and marry it to the nice changes we've made in the run game, I'd be pretty excited. So based on that, I'd be for the following:

OC/TE - Brian Ferentz
QB/WR Coach & Pass Game Coordinator - KOK
OL Coach - Reese Morgan
RB Coach - TBD

DC - Phil Parker
DL Coach - Kelvin Bell
LB Coach - Levar Woods
DB Coach - Seth Wallace
