2 Recruiting Thoughts

1. Gary Williams just retired. Notre Dame's coach is the rumored top target for the Maryland job. If he goes to Maryland does Katenda open his options back up?

2. Henton apparently is going to Providence. I just think it's hilarious that there are multiple threads on CF from very recently that are drooling over Henton, and saying how bad they want him to come to Iowa State. Now that he's gone to Providence everyone is "I didn't want the guy" "He would never play" "He'd just suck up a scholarship" etc. It's pretty funny. I know fans of all schools do a little bit of the "oh well he didn't come here so we didn't really want him that bad", but ISU fans literally had their tongues up his butt a week ago, and now they're pretending like the guy is horrible and they never wanted him. HILARIOUS.

I don't even want to think about Fran leaving. I can't imagine how effed the Iowa program would be. Can't even entertain the thought. I think Fran wants to be THE guy here and he can leave a legacy that will last a long time. He can't do that at ND or MD.

I don't think Fran would leave (or Maryland would look at him)....BUT if they get the Notre Dame coach I will be holding my breath....Fran has a few connections to ND (former assistant? wife a player?) and this late in the game ND would be hamstrung....ugh. Again I don't think Fran would leave but this late in the game, the perfect storm is something I could see happening....

IF that happens I officially believe Iowa bball is cursed for firing Mr. Davis.

I really like Fran, and hopefully in a few years we have reason to fear top schools poaching him, but he won't be a candidate at either school.

Why are you still hung up on the firing of Mr. Davis? Do you think Hayden should have been give more time too? Mr. Davis got very lazy with his recruiting (see Troy Skinner, Wade Lookingbill etc.) as did Hayden on the football side. I read these posts from fans lamenting the firing of a guy from what 10+ years ago and I just don't get it. We are where we are for a lot of reasons, but firing Mr. Davis is not one of them.

To be honest, I'd say Hawk fans are just as bad at this, judging by this site. Just keeping it real.

I don't think fran will leave this year if ND opened up. I don't see him as the type how would leave before accomplishing something he set out to do. I don't see him leaving until we get to the post season/significant improvement. I feel next year could see both of those so anytime after next year I could see him jumping but I think he stays until Basabe is done.

Ya Garvey your right, you know we get our feelings hurt when we want someone and they turn us down(been alot of that lately) its just the nature of the beast.

They didn't "fire" him, but they might as well have. What a slap in the face that was. And we've been slipping ever since

Like I said in my original post all fanbases do it to an extent. However, there was a thread about if they wanted Henton, Olu, or to bank the scholarship. At last count 112 had picked Henton, 64 had picked Olu. Now after Henton decided to go elsewhere all of a sudden everyone wanted to bank the scholly from the beginning because Henton isn't very good, and he wouldn't play right away, and he'd just burn a scholly that they could use on someone better. The complete 180 was hilarious.

Hawk fans do the same thing, but not to the same extent. After Cesar went to Okie St. we are all very disappointed that he didn't pick us. I didn't see anyone saying that they never wanted Cesar, or that he isn't very good, or that we can get someone better.

Look, I'm a Hawk fan through and through but just telling it like it is. I remember when Brust and Larson decommitted last year and there were a lot of posts about how they weren't that great anyway-at least on Brust.

In Cezar's case, he was so highly touted that, for our fans to turn around and say we didn't want him just wouldn't have flown, and our fans probably realized that.

I'll give you props on doing your homework on the numbers from their board and you do make a compelling case anyway.
