'18 WI F Joey Hauser Talks About Hawkeyes Interest

And Wisconsin fans wonder why they're one of the most hated fan bases in the B1G....

Not even close. You obviously haven't spent much time with Michigan or Penn State fans. And frankly, Nebraska fans can claim close-to-most-hated-ever in TWO conferences, three if you count Big 8/Big XII as "separate" conferences....

I would think that Fran would know if Iowa will have a scholarship open for him. To me, it seems like it would be a very rare year to not have a scholarship open for some reason, at Iowa or at any college.

I didn't say THE most hated...just one of the most....

Michigan fans are the "wine and cheese" crowd. I've been to Ann Arbor multiple times and never had an issue. Penn State fans are "cultish", sure, but not terrible.

Wisconsin fans are those fans that have tasted a little bit of recent success and act like they've been that way for forever. In football, they were never shit before Barry and in basketball, weren't shit before the Grinch. They're like Nebraska fans, in reverse.

I think someone would have to xfer in order to have a scholly for Hauser. Wieskamp has Dom Uhl's scholly and Dom is the only SR on the team.

Nationally, tOSU fans have a crappy reputation as well. When I was living in Austin, they had a home and home with UT and the Texas fans described them as "worse than Aggies" and that is saying something in those parts.

Too bad Iowa doesn't have an open scholarship. He'll have to slum it at Wisconsin, Marquette, or even MSU.

I really feel for the kid, just terrible.

No open ride for him right now. Wieskamp will takes Uhl's. Dom is the only player we lose after this season.

And, yes, I think the feeling out there is that he will follow his brother to Marquette.

I'm not so sure about that any more.

Wisconsin feels pretty good about their chances with Hauser.

@Unknownbadger I suppose you are gonna tell us now that Wisconsin didn't want him any longer.

Nope, not at all. Wisconsin was always fighting an uphill battle against Marquette for Hauser, but Iowa was trying to climb Mount Everest.

UnK...we don't even have a scholly available for this kid. So, actually, we didn't even travel to the Himalayas. Fran would have tried to find a way to get a scholly for him if he did want to come to Iowa. But, realistically, we had no room.

Yeah, I don't know why people here wanted to get in a fight with me over his recruitment.

Because you were wrong. Marquette was always where he was going, and Rob said as much. You disagreed, you said Wisconsin likes its chances with him. You were dead ass wrong and everyone knew it, but you it seems.

I actually agree with this. He's most likely going to stay in state and if he doesn't I bet it will be Michigan State. I don't think we were ever going to be a serious player here no matter our scholarship situation.
I'm not surprised you're saying this. I need to check cyfan to see how you're claiming he's going to the clowns.

First of all, I never said Wisconsin didn't want the 3 football recruits Iowa picked up. I said we didn't have room for one who we definitely were interested in, nor did we have room for another that we were moderately interested in and, I believed weren't all that interested in the RB. Those are the facts, Rob. Whether you wish to believe them or not.

Secondly, I never said you never had a chance at Hauser. What I said just a few posts ago was that he "entertained thoughts" just as he entertained thought for others. I guess you have to read between the line that I was inferring your chances weren't very good from the beginning.

We follow recruiting pretty closely here, Rob.
Those are the facts through badgers eyes. Your post sounds a lot like cyfan posts.

Seems to me that everyone who disagrees with your thought process is a CY fan. That said, I have reason to like Iowa State football ever since Johnny Majors years there and do wish the team well WHEN they are playing anybody other than Wisconsin and Iowa.

How long is a long time? Going on 20+ years now.

I'm not trying to gloat because I love the rivalry and its competitiveness in both football AND basketball but over the last 20 years , which to me is a long time, Wisconsin has had a significant edge in both sports face to face and in the standings. Has Wisconsin become one of the "elite"? NO! One thing, Wisconsin has been more consistent year after year, not so cyclical, in both sports.I think that has a lot to do with in-state talent and being able to draw from it (even with walk-ons who have been so much a part of UWs success). That's not saying Iowa doesn't have some great HS programs. I know it does, I lived in Bettendorf for years, just that the overall populace is so much smaller.
