Short week, already have a practice in yesterday...last game for seniors, 19 seniors.

In past when had bowl prep, time to develop younger players...not going, change approach for this game and younger players time?

No, will approach this game same do best to try to win..play guys who give us best chance to win. No bowl, lose sig practice time will have to overcome

He is a little sore but he got through the week well last week, not a major setback Sunday, sore but good spirits

Thoughts on Nebraska

My first game as an assistant v Nebraska...when I got here in 1999, they were ranked pretty high..had it going well both those times...slipped middle of last decade but playing real well now. Playing well on defense, offensively some similarities to 1999 and 2000 and 1980's, really athletic QB who has developed into a good passer....they have done an excellent job minus Burkhead who has been limited

We had a good plan, just tweaked one or two things we made notes of after the game last year.

What effect does Rutgers and Maryland have on Iowa

Caught wind of it over the weekend...haven't thought much about it, not on schedule til at least 2014

I don't know if it helps or hurts..might be better for them than us..this is a sign of the times...change is inevitable. Change has been good for the league going back to PSU coming in...the people making those decisions do a great job on that.

Distance, blip on map some of these road trips NFL esque

My wife commented on that...wives on trip last week...noon kick, get home 7..long days..going through airport security has made it more interesting. I had that thought of going Morgantown to Lubbock...interesting trip...all a part of changing times

As a student athlete? NFL is a job, school for the kids

It shoots your Saturays if you are on the road...if you play night game on road, different dimension...our sport on road fouror five times a year compared to other sports...we have it easy on the travel...makes you appreciate bus trips. No securityu

Coaches kept in dark on moves like this

I dont know about completelhy in dark....Commish good on sharing some things..when I worked in Cleveland my boss said there were things he can't share with us and things better off not knowing..I would throw this in that category...looking back...when they felt like important to get feedback, he does a great job..but he can't check with everyone on everything and not sure how much coaches could add

9 vs 8 conference games

I think math is weird. Anytime you talk about 5 vs 4 home games or vice versa, not sure that is a good idea

I am trying to fiogure out how we can get 13 guys on field vs Nebraska and not get caught

Does Neb feel like rivlary game

yes and no...Neb coming into league great for Big Ten and for us, a border team coming in made sense...it is in its infant stages, but all makings are tehre for good series

Value of win friday as opposed to getting younger players in ther...some think look to future

I dont know whose perspective that would be...our idea since we got here play best in every game we can...that has been our motivation for 14 years...in fairness to entire team and eveyrone involved, you try to play your best each week. Maybe in NFL its a discussion when you have playoffs locked up.

When you enter off season, is Rudock's to lose as QB

As all of you know, he ha snot played...I dont know how anybody.....to me every posiution will be open..we are a 4-7 team. If we were 11-0, things would be open then, too. There is no entitlement in sports. There is no royalty system..everyone has to earn their keep every day..one of few arenas with fair competition..everyone has a chance to start regardles of age.

That is a part of it.

How much has hangning on to redshirts hurt depth there...and have Canzerio and Malloy....

With that position its different...with Canzeri a health issue on top of it. Had he been healthy in August, he would have played. But he wasn't. Mike was emergency guy...were on thin ice there..Malloy injured last week and didn't make trip...nature of that position.
