10-23 Bowl Projections Thread

Outback Bowl would be a big disappointment to many fans + been there, done that attitude. I can't imagine much interest in this game especially against Miss State.

Agreed. Going to the OB after all the hype surrounding this season would be a huge letdown. Don't expect a large number of fans to make the pilgrimage down to Tampa if that happens.

Hopefully get 10-15000 fans to travel. The athletic department will probably lose a little bit of money buying up the allotment of tickets, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. Possibly get to a 10-11 win season, top 15 finish and move on to 2011.

Iowa travels. That won't be an issue and never will be. Outback Bowl been there done that x3, when has that been an issue?

Hopefully 10 to 15,000? Sorry not trying to be an ***. That is a lock for any Jan 1st bowl.

+1 right on.

I love 'em no matter what their record is. I don't think I'm alone either.

With the Gator Bowl being a Big Ten bowl this year, I would almost hope for the Hawks to go there instead of the Outback.

given the preseason expectations, outback would be a huge kick in the nuts this season. sorry if I sound elitist but given the preseason expectations and guys Iowa had coming back, this was THE year Iowa should've gotten to the rose bowl.

The Outback bowl is the last stop on the "decent bowl" train line.

If you debark any further down the line, you're definitely entering the Obama-bowl neighborhood...lots of welfare going on where the big boys distribute the wealth to the pandering lesser people so everybody can play at the end of the season.

Anybody remember when it was known as the "Hall of Fame Bowl?"

And I do agree....being "chosen" to go to a OBB-level of Chamber of Commerce bowl this year will 10000% be a disappointment.

An Outback Bowl rep stopped by our tailgate yesterday. I asked him to play flippy cup, he declined, but he did accept a beer. He said he loves Hawk fans. For what its worth.

Great. Another trip to the Outback Bowl (4x) against Mississippi State would provide zero to negative buzz and interest. If I'm the Outback Bowl rep, I hope I don't have to pick Iowa because ticket sales would be brutal for this game.

Some of you need that kick to the nuts now to get it over with and face reality that Iowa is probably going to the Outback or Cap One, then that way the meltdown won't be quite as bad.

At this point the only BCS Bowl I see Iowa getting to is the Rose and that is as the automatic qualifer and they now need help in getting that done, because even if Iowa does win out (along with Wisconsin) Iowa won't get an at large BCS bid over Ohio St or Michigan St even when they beat both. Well maybe they might over MSU, but no way, no how does a BCS bowl take Iowa over Ohio St.

I agree. No question we are going to non-BCS bowl. Just think that if it is the Outback Bowl, there will be a huge letdown amongst the fans and ticket sales will show this. Outback Bowl loves Iowa but not sure Iowa loves Outback Bowl this year. Not a bad bowl game but we've been there 3x in 7 years, possible match-up against ho-hum SEC team and zero buzz for this game, this isn't the year Outback Bowl wants Iowa.

Do you flip flop with Gator? Let Michigan, Northwestern or whoever go instead? Outback has a larger payout, but don't all the Big Ten share that money anyway? So it doesn't really matter.
