1 turnover, 0 points and 4 fouls from our starting PG

I seem to recall a few of you guys jumping all over me for saying that C. Williams is not a BIG PG. Oh yeah, our back up PG, whom I told you wasn't a PG either.....he provided 3 turnovers, 0 assists and 6 points. I won't even have to name names because you know who you are. Enjoy your Thanksgiving bird. This isn't what you had in mind. I'm sure you were thinking turkey and not crow.

While I agree Williams has underwhelmed it's not like he was the only one who had a bad game, we scored 41 points. I'm not giving up on him personally because when I watch I still feel like he can get where he wants to on the floor with the ball, he just is lacking the confidence right now. He got some fouls playing aggressive but I still think he's one of our better defenders.

Our entire team got embarrassed and one player needs pointed out who's suckiness blended in with everyone else's suckiness? If only our point guard was better we could have only been blown out by 20.

I don't like the idea of playing both PGs around 20 minutes a game, which is what we've done so far. I don't think that works, sort of like rotating two QBs in football. I hope Williams plays 30 and Bohannon 10 when we settle into our rotation.

You trashed me in June because I said Williams and Bohannon weren't BIG PGs. I knew what I was talking about. YOU WERE WRONG! Just admit it. There are 2 or 3 Iowa high school players that could walk onto the court today and play the 1 better than what we have.

I pointed out our starting PG and our back up PG. Neither should be playing PG for a BIG program. Bohannon is a catch and shoot 2G and Williams is a 2/3 slasher. It's Fran's failures that have led to them being in the position they are in.

I think a coach has to say his system has interchangeable parts...if he has been unable to recruit a full functioning PG several years running...

Yea let's fault the freshman pg's in a game where they played one of the toughest defenses in the country in their 5th game of the season. They have a lot of time to mature and figure things out.

As I said I'm not giving up on Williams at the point. It seems you already have. I feel no need to try to change your opinion.

If Williams was splitting time between the 2/3, I think most posters on this board would be pleasantly surprised by how effective he would be. I'd really enjoy watching him there. But there is no upside to him being the starting PG. Not if you expect more BIG wins and high NCAA seedings.

Actually he's not really suited to be a wing (outside of his height) from what I've seen. He doesn't appear to be a catch and shoot guy. Doesn't appear to be a slasher/scorer. He looks like a pass first guy and has had some good moment thus far. He's not turning the ball over at a high rate, which is a good start for a PG. He intrigues me most as a PG.

You and I see things completely opposite. I'll give you that he's not a catch and shoot wing. That's the only part I agree with. But we can politely disagree.

I would also say we agree that we could use an upgrade at PG, I think that much is apparent. That doesn't mean I don't see potential in Williams. I was upset the day we signed Bohannon, and haven't seen anything so far that makes me think I was wrong about that.

I understand the concern here as I have voiced it many times over the last few years. The point guard may be the most vital position on a team in the B1G conference.

I still say give it a few more games as these kids have not had much time to play and grow. If by the time we are three quarters of the way through the conference play and they still are struggling like this, then I am sure most on here will be questioning the point guard recruiting on the team. Some of us have been occasionally voicing our concerns the last two or three years, but even so I'm not totally sold on the idea that our guys can't learn to the point (no pun intended) where they can't at least be serviceable.

In reality he is a sophmore but in actual game experience he still a freshman. Over the forty-five years of following college basketball I have seen a general leap from what a player looks like as a freshmen guard and how they look as a sophmore guard. Williams is still a freshman experience wise. We need to be patient and give him a chance to play within himself and grow and learn. I am hoping he comes around and Bohannon comes around too. I could make some assessments from what I have seen that is grounds for concerns, but I will hold off on that until he has some good experience under his belt.

When Eric May was struggling there were several calling him out but I liked what I saw of him as a freshman and knew if he could recover from his injuries he would surprise a lot of people his senior year. I wasn't disappointed and a lot of people came away very pleased with him. Now I can't say that I see the same talent in our current point guards that I saw in Eric but the season is young just as many of the players are.

I think of Wisconsin's Big post player that helped take them to the title game. In his freshman and sophmore years he looked below average. He showed some good improvement his Junior season but really came into his own his senior year. I don't know of too many people that saw that coming. Although I am cautiously sceptical I still say be patient and give it a little more time,

Meanwhile Fran really needs to ramp up his recruiting focus on landing a B1G level point guard.
