    Iowa QB situation

Kurt Warner and Tom Brady were both 1 year starters in college. Thats the power of "experience". Coaches like many professions hold to the maxim: first do no harm Not "to get what you've never had you've got to do what you've never done"

Former Iowa Assistant Coach Dismissed by Mich St

I remember when he coached at Iowa. I believe he was encouraged to seek other opportunities here as well. From having family in the coaching business, this usually is a case of a coach not seen as either 1)hard working 2)Competent 3)Detrimental to team cutlure MSU cuts ties with assistant Ted...

Sean Considine - Most minutes Special Teams

Saw this on ProFootballTalk: The league leader in special teams playing time was Baltimore’s Sean Considine, who played 415 special teams plays this season. As a 31-year-old who has bounced around the league for years and always managed to find a spot on an NFL roster despite rarely being a...

    Innovation, and lack thereof

Hayden was an innovator on offense and also focused on great defense, leading Iowa to success in breaking up the "big two, little ten" in the 80s. Kirk came in with the same focus on defense and a relatively innovative approach on offense: the zone blocking run game. Correct me if I'm wrong...

WHAR ***OFFICIAL*** INSIGHT BOWL GAME THREAD?!?

You know what part of the problem is? We don't practice running a passing offense. It's all run the ball and play-action. QB and receivers aren't coached to expect there to be multiple options and to expect the ball at any time and go for it.

WHAR ***OFFICIAL*** INSIGHT BOWL GAME THREAD?!?

Watch Vendenberg - he doesn't read the defense; he has predetermined who he wants to throw to and stares them down. whether that is on him or coaches or both it is bad.

WHAR ***OFFICIAL*** INSIGHT BOWL GAME THREAD?!?

Iowa plays boring football but when they win we are happy. But playing ****** and being boring doing it is a recipe for none giving a ****. At least be interesting

Open up the playbook today - let it loose!

Feels that way, I know. But did anyone else watch the BTN replay of the 2005 Capital One Bowl? Iowa blitzed A LOT. For bowl games, they do adjust it seems. maybe its more on the D side than the O (?)

Coker Suspension: Best thing that could happen for 2012 squad?

Losing Coker is not good news for the bowl game, for sure. But it could be helpful for the '12 season. Since Iowa coaches are risk-averse and loathe to play new guys to any great extent, this could help for next season as they have had to play these guys in practice and perhaps that plus how...

Bob Stoops Insight Presser from 12/28

I've said it for a long time: the college job Stoops would leave OU for is Iowa.

    Facebook -- Coach K

fellas, several assistants coach special teams. one will handle punt return, one punt, etc. This is how most colleges do it. Ferentz spends more time with the OL than other units, which makes sense. Don't get so hung up with who is coaching what. Ferentz took his time putting his staff together...
