    Fickle Fickell

Because lawyers. I would almost absolutely bet there is language....or they will find language they can use to base some sort of lawsuit against Franklin and his new employer. Each side will initially dig in their heels upon instruction from lawyers. And then there will be a protracted...

Iowa football 'safe and secure' in CBS hot seat rankings

You will get no argument from me. Other than, I hope he goes of his own in the next few years if he "needs" to. Either that or if he stays to the end, I hope he coordinates WITH Goetz when it is time (even if they disagree about the way forward that he at least plays along).... Kirk Ferentz has...

    Oregon 6.5 point favorite

I would really really like for Iowa to win this game. I will dislike Oregon forever. Because my very first game, my first ever in person college football game experience ever.... Was Iowa/Oregon. 1989 It was not pretty. That season was not terribly pretty. But it was mostly uphill from there...

    Oregon 6.5 point favorite

Now, I know some of this has to do with what can often be called a 'lumbering' offense. But again, as much credit as we give Phil Parker...we do not give him enough. average points per game allowed by Iowa: 2016 18.8 2017 19.9 2018 17.0 2019 14.0 2020 16.0 2021 19.2 2022...

    Fickle Fickell

I just hope Indiana doesn't become the new Wisconsin for Iowa.

    Oregon 6.5 point favorite

6.5 feels about right. Less than a touchdown. The final result against Indiana was less than a touchdown. I think the Hawks have a chance, at least even...of winning. Not likely, but they'll have to play the game for us to find out. But then there's that whole streak thing of teams not named...

    Who’s defense MVP? So far

I said before (keep in mind I know jack squat about how to play football or evaluate play beyond results like scores and stats) that this may be one of the more complete defenses we've seen. Because there's no standout certifiable "studs" beyond maybe Graves? There's no Sanders, Devries...

Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?

I love that this thread has devolved into overanalysis of a decided silly play. Allow me to over-over-analyze. Because I love over-analyzing. We're rather happy at the moment. We've got a team that shows some offensive life for the first time in over a half a decade. We're not the butt of jokes...

Minnesota Radio Announcer Calls Fans 'morons'

I was so lasered in on Gene Wilder 'cause he said the line. Just watched a documentary about him recently. What a fascinating fellow. Didn't even think of Mongo. That's double the irony. Gene delivered the line. But you also had an actual Hawkeye footballer in the movie too. Dolph could...

    Coaching carousel 2025

I think it will. I think we will see far more coordinators get promoted. And again, I think it's possible to go from whatever to Toledo to PSU. But not whatever, to Toledo, to Iowa State, to PSU. Unless you show near spectacular results at whatever, Toledo, AND Iowa State.

Minnesota Radio Announcer Calls Fans 'morons'

Ice fishing? You know how you catch a Minnesotan? Dig a hole in the ice. And put a ring of peas around it. When the Minnesotan comes up to take a pea, you kick him in the icehole. Someone throw the flag. Unnecessary posting on the messageboarder . Converting dad jokes to football jokes. 10...

Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?

This reminds me of something I saw last night. Not worthy of a thread on it's own. I get a lot of what must be Big 10 Network posts....video montages of Big 10 coaches answering the question "What's the hardest stadium to play in..." type stuff. One I got last night. "Who's the one player past...

Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?

Yah. Statistically Stanley Sneak was Iowa's most successful play in terms of success rate for years. Maybe in all of Hawkeye history? And if you added up the average yards gained on QB sneaks during that era across all of college football....it had to be 2+ yards more than any other average.

Kaden Wetjen tied former Iowa great Tim Dwight with his return TD against Minnesota

Bottom line... You've got Moulton and an offensive line that's fully grown into their cleats. A very good Vander Zee back in the mix. The other receivers are competent. Wetjen is a legit threat on offense. Gronowski showing the ability to throw some pretty fair balls, but also has the ability to...

Kaden Wetjen tied former Iowa great Tim Dwight with his return TD against Minnesota

I think the jet sweep is just setup. At least I hope so. I guarantee Wetjen is on the radar of every opponent's special teams coaching. AND I guarantee that the last few opposing defensive coordinators prepared their teams for him. And absolutely will be preparing for him after Saturday. How...

Minnesota Radio Announcer Calls Fans 'morons'

Can we get a harumph for the Governor?

Minnesota Radio Announcer Calls Fans 'morons'

While I love that quote... It's maybe the single greatest ad-libbed moments in cinematic history. But also, let's enjoy a touch of irony. That line was delivered by a 1955 Iowa grad. And while I don't mind a little humor and I don't really care so much that it was "against" us, I'm glad Dolph...

    New field logo

At this point, don't we have to keep it? At least until they lose? I mean, I'm not changing my underwear until they lose again.

    Floyd thread

WTF? I dipped in the middle of the IA/MN third and ISU had just tied it at 27? I was halfheartedly hoping they'd win because it would make Iowa look better.
