The OSU MN game bodes well.....

Barrett is a much better QB than Jones. It'll be all Barrett from here on out and the Buckeyes will be dangerous.

Cunningham on CJ's performance and passing

CJ had several big plays on third down today.

    Desmond King

I think the better comparison is Micah Hyde. King plays a lot like Hyde, but has better ball-hawking skills.

    Desmond King

Hard to compare a CB and a safety. I think Sanders had a bigger overall impact. But if King comes back for his senior year.....I'd love to find out.

    Desmond King

That was a hell of a catch, and to get a foot down before going out of bounds was awesome. ...but that pass had a hang time of like 12 seconds.

    Wiegers

If Rudock was still here, a bunch of you would have been ******** that our healthy backup is on the bench while our injured starter is struggling in games.

    Where's Jonathan Parker been?

Parker has made more boneheaded mistakes than positive plays. I'm all for giving him some reps, but not while the outcome of a game is in doubt.

    Rose would probably select Sparty

This is not something we'll need to worry about. If Ohio State is in the playoff, and Iowa/Sparty both have 1 loss, then Iowa will go to the Rose Bowl. If necessary, the ranking will magically work out in Iowa's favor, because that's just too good a chance to be passed up. Bank on it.

Iowa #9 in first CFB Playoff ranking

No team ranked above Iowa is a lock to win out right now. If Clemson beats FSU, they have the clearest path of all teams. But if Clemson loses, they won't win their division and could be on the outside looking in. Then FSU will wind up losing @Florida in a few weeks and the ACC might even be...

Scenario of possibility, which conference(s) is hosed?

The solution to bowl stability is pretty easy. Go to an 8 team playoff. Make the Rose/Orange/Sugar/Fiesta Bowls the quarterfinal round, with the 4 winners advancing to play in a Final Four. No more rotating bowls in and out of relevance. This makes them all relevant, every single year. You...

so much for "we beat PITT"

I wish all of our beaten opponents could wind up 11-1, but that's just unpossible.

Do you really believe the Hawks are good enough to be a playoff team?

From a talent/roster standpoint, top to bottom - no, Iowa is not one of the top 4 teams. But that's not always what wins games. And about playing a team like Baylor or TCU...go back to the 2009 season and the Orange Bowl. Most experts thought Georgia Tech's juggernaut offense would steamroll...

    Choo Choo Train

Get tickets for the train ahead of time if you can, and either way be there at least an hour before kickoff. The lines for buying tickets and boarding the train get really long in the hour before kickoff, so anticipate this or you'll wind up missing half of the first quarter waiting for the...

For those who have traveled in the past with HN or the IU to bowls

I went with Jon's HN charter to the 2009 Outback Bowl. Pros: - Almost all of your standard travelling waiting/annoyances were eliminated or reduced to near-zero - Direct flight to Tampa - Travelling with all Hawkeye fans was a lot of fun - Stayed in the same hotel as the coaches/players -...

    Strictly a hypothetical ... 5 unbeatens

An 8 team playoff would be fantastic, but home games really aren't the best solution. The NCAA is already trying to keep the major bowls alive by making them part of the playoff, so stop rotating them and take the idea further. Use the Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta Bowls as the quarterfinal...

What did Harbaugh and other coaches do wrong

I don't think I've ever seen someone run backwards to kill time except on the final play of the game with only a couple seconds to kill. Doing so on multiple plays in a row puts the ball closer to your own endzone and just increases the odds of something bad happening. When you can't fully kill...

Why KF philosophy may hurt Iowa's playoff chances

If Iowa gets to 13-0, they won't be left out of the playoff. And we won't have to worry about there being 5 unbeaten teams - there likely won't be more than 2. Just win, the rest will take care of itself.

    Strictly a hypothetical ... 5 unbeatens

In your scenario, Iowa would probably be the odd team out. But your scenario is completely unlikely.

    Camero running into draft relevence

Forsett an interesting comparison. Smaller RBs in the NFL need to have speed and durability to survive. Canzeri is fast, but is he durable enough? I hope he gets a shot.
